    I've seen it mentioned a few times that he might play CB next year but the only quote I can find easily is from James Pearce, “Gomez is on the comeback trail and I’d expect him to get some game time at centre-back in 2018/19".
    If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

      I didnt mean that it hasnt been mooted or suggested before, I just feel this idea that hes going to be good at centrehalf has been plucked from thin air

      Personally I just dont see it

        Don't really see it with Gomez myself but I suppose he is still very young. He missed a hell of alot of games through injury for a kid that is 21, that has most definitely hampered him, 74 games out in the last 3 seasons.

          Yep I’d like to see him as cover for both fullback spots for now & maybe see how he goes at CB in the odd cup match. He’ll really need to improve in the air to succeed as a CB though.

            But he was playing CB when we bought him, wasn't he? (I am not suggesting that means anything; just trying to get my memory right.)

              He was playing at BOTH rightback and centreback for Charlton. He only made 24 appearances for them before we bought him

                It'll be interesting to see what happens with Gomez next year, he has been decent but when everyone is fit he is 3rd choice RB. He played LB for us before the injuries so could be 2nd choice there if he can get ahead of Moreno but looks 3rd choice there at the moment. CB is what he has been touted as long term but i'my not sure he's ready and he's 4th or 5th choice there. I don't see him getting many games. A loan move might make sense but I doubt we'd let him go

                  I actually met Joe on the tube last week, really nice guy. Said I wanted him to pay centre back with Virg which he replied "was the dream".
                  I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

                        Played well.

                        Gomez regained possession nine times throughout the 90 minutes - only Keita did so on as many occasions for Liverpool - and made a team-high four clearances, as well as three tackles and one block.
