Obviously going to be a big miss as he's a super player BUT I do have a new found respect for both Lovren and Matip in our improved defensive setup.
They are both international class defenders and, if you look around some of the ****e around in the league, they are amongst the better bunch especially as they are considered back-up.
Gutted for Gomez but genuinely pleased with the backup.

Matip was all over the place at the start of the Burnley game. Misplacing all his passes and he looked a bit nervous. Settled down ok in the end though.Originally posted by Maxiedge View PostObviously going to be a big miss as he's a super player BUT I do have a new found respect for both Lovren and Matip in our improved defensive setup.

This is what the squad is for, decent players like him will need to step up and perform well if we're to succeed this season.

I think Matip just needs more minutes, understandably rusty, he will start now at least the next three games and hopefully use them as an opportunity to stake his claim.Originally posted by Pablo View PostMatip was all over the place at the start of the Burnley game. Frustrating him get injured whilst playing ****ing fullback.
Would never have been in that position playing centrally.
Didn't look anything in the tackle. He's just a bit brittle isn't he.
Let's hope he recovers quickly and we don't miss him. Matip is very ropey and will be targeted.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

I was wondering when someone would imply that Klopp's rotation is to blame on the injury.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostFrustrating him get injured whilst playing ****ing fullback.

Although I suppose that if he had been rested, he wouldn't have got injured either.

We had. Fabinho is first choice RB for Brazil, it's just not how we see him. We have other options such as Clyne, Milner etc but they just weren't available.Originally posted by Pepe79 View PostHave to admit, it does annoy me that we've lost one of our 1st choice CB pairing because we haven't got cover at RB.
Not blaming Klopp, it's just frustrating.

Exactly, we don’t have a dedicated 2nd option at RB.Originally posted by labourRed View PostWe had. Fabinho is first choice RB for Brazil, it's just not how we see him. We have other options such as Clyne, Milner etc but they just weren't available.
Resting Trent means moving Gomez from CB to that position, instead of rotating in a fresh RB.
Milner was playing in midfield (don’t think he’s ever started at RB for us?) and we’ve clearly bought Fabinho as a MF, but even with them, that’s still moving a player in from another position.
Like I said, for whatever reason, Clyne apparently isn’t an option these days. He’s been in the squad 3 times this season and only made about 5 appearances last season..

I disagree, playing Gomez at times is as much tactical as anything. Due to the height of Burnley attackers, Gomez was always going to play RB imo.
Providing he's fit, I see no reason why Clyne won't start getting some appearances. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Gomez’s position is CB, I don’t think there’s any doubt about that now.Originally posted by RedReet View PostI disagree, playing Gomez at times is as much tactical as anything. Due to the height of Burnley attackers, Gomez was always going to play RB imo.

It’s not ideal that half of our 1st choice CB pairing is also having to fill in at RB.
Banging my head against a brick wall with the Clyne thing here
The guy hasn’t been an option since the season before last. He’s not officially injured, yet he’s still not being included in match day squads. Something is up there and he clearly isn’t currently being considered as an option by Klopp..
