As someone has pointed out, we don't know the whole story with clyne, as I just don't understand the hate with him...he seems to be putting in a good shift before the 'injury', unless we are getting another rb, he is a great squad rotation option don't you think ?

He played well for the odd game that he got picked IIRC. £15m doesn't seem excessive.

Don't think there's any hate towards him either. Most fans seem to want him to stay and be given a chance. It's all a bit confusing working out what's gone on behind the scenes

I wonder is it a bit Sakho-esqe - where Klopp didn't like something about his character and that was that. Obviously there are the Class-A rumours about him too - but I reckon that is bull****. If true it would have come out.

For some reason, i thought his contract was up this summer - and when he went on loan to Bournemouth that was it. In reality if you are a mid table team that want a solid right back, then Clyne would be an okay shout.

Clynes a very good RB. He's pacey and good defender, makes good runs to support his winger too, just doesn't have the dribbling or crossing ability of Trent.

Clyne is a good right back well worth 15m. Personally i would love us to have him as back up but he obviously wants games. Solid buy for someone.

That’s the thing isn’t it. It’s confusing to everyone as he’s a decent player & worth a spot on the bench but something must have happened behind the scenes to get bombed out like he has. It’s a bit Sakhoesque to me & if true the club have done an amazing job to keep it hush hush.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Gutted for him as I still felt he had something to offer. He's always been a solid RB.

Looks like Gomez or Milner to fill in when needed then.

Liverpool right-back Nathaniel Clyne will be out for about six months after suffering knee ligament damage during the club's pre-season tour of the United States.

Clyne, 28, was injured during the defeat by Borussia Dortmund last week and has flown home for treatment.

The England player is out of contract next summer and had been linked with a return to former club Crystal Palace.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp said the team were "gutted" at the news.

"He was training and playing so well - he was in outstanding shape," the boss added.

"Clearly an injury of this nature isn't a happy moment for any player, but the silver lining for him is that, according to the medical guys, it's a straightforward ACL injury.

"This means fixing it and coming back from it should follow a path that is free from pitfalls and complications."

Liverpool say the defender has a clean tear of his anterior cruciate ligament and expect Clyne to return to fitness in six months - late January 2020 - as a result.

Clyne joined Liverpool for £12.5m in July 2015 but lost his first-team place to Trent Alexander-Arnold and spent the second half of last season on loan at Bournemouth.

So no genuine back-ups for either full-back?
