Not for me. Clearly Ibe has potential, but Sterling has proved himself over 100 games. Ibe has had a couple of good games in the Premier League and a decent pre-season.
That's not to say he won't come good - Ibe certainly has many attributes - but he needs to be more aware of what is going on around him and I think that will come with game time and training.
Will he be worth £40m in a couple of seasons? I hope so, but not yet.
oh but he hasn't though has he. He may have played 100 matches but he hasn't proven himself in all those matches IMO. He's shown promise in loads of them but he's not proven himself in that many matches.
Sterling's form dropped significantly this calendar year. This was more than likely down to the level of scrutiny he was under following his contract negotiations going public. Prior to that Sterling was one of the first names on the team sheet. He'd had an excellent season prior to last and started last season as our go-to-guy in the absence of Suarez and Sturridge.
He's been above decent since making his debut. Sure, he's experienced drops in form but they are to be expected of any young footballer. To rack up nearly 100 games at such a young age is a fair sign of his quality regardless of whether he was good in all of them. Whilst Sterling was asked to lead our attack, Ibe was sent out on loan which shows who Rodgers had more faith in.

I doubt many players have managed to "prove" themselves in all of a 100 matches.
Muds point is that over a sustained period of time is that he's shown himself as a talented player and has so far done more in the game than Ibe. Nothing to say that Ibe can't replicate and perhaps surpass him but as it stands Sterling has done more in the game.

He didn't have an excellent season prior to last, he had an excellent half a season. Started last season well, I'd say in total he hasn't been top notch for even a full season of games yet. Raheem has a lot to prove, which is why £50m or so was a fair fee.
What 20 year old has a consistent season? Of course his form is going to fluctuate and it probably will do at Manchester City for a couple of seasons too. Perhaps it's a poor choice of words from myself, but I believe Sterling has shown his importance to the team over the last two seasons whilst Ibe has had two spells on loan.

Yeah I'd agree with that & id also like to see what Ibe can do played on the left like Sterling was. Ibe would defo get more goal scoring opportunities cutting back in on his right foot as compared to going to the byline & getting crosses in when played on the right. I haven't seen any sign of a left foot from Ibe as yet, other than standing on it
