    Bournemouth (H): Build Up

    Date: Monday, 17th August 2015
    Kick Off: 2000 BST
Live on: Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports HD

With a full week to prepare and more time for our South American and U-21 players to work on their fitness, we really should be looking at winning this comfortably.

Would be tempted to swap Can for Lallana for this one, but I think Rodgers will go with the same starting 11.

Would like to see another clean sheet and at least 1 goal for Benteke. Hopefully the evening KO will help generate a good atmosphere at Anfield too.

    Can't wait.

If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

What day/date/time is this match on RedReet?

There's no doubting Lallana needs benching. I think it will be for Firmino as we need goal-chances against Bournemouth and Can would be deemed more defensive. I reckon Ibe might start again only to see if he can use his pace to trouble the lesser Bournmouth players. He probably knows about their fullbacks during his time with Derby.
    One tit for another.

Would take out Lallana and Ibe for Can and Firmino

On the strength of yesterdays performance I can see a case for benching Lallana and/or Ibe but I just think they both have some credit still in the bank for pre-season and Rodgers will stick with them.

Don't think Firmino is ready to start and since we are at home I would like see as many attackers on the pitch as possible so I'd stick with the same 11 but really, Lallana has no excuses anymore, he's had a full pre season, he needs to start producing or he'll have splinters in his arse before long. If Firmino can start it's Lallana or Ibe who makes way.

It was our first game of the season !!!

He'll chip in with some important goals this season but might not be an automatic starter.

I know a number of people are saying drop Lallana and Ibe for Can and Firmino, but I think that we need to be careful about jumping into too many changes too rashly. Ok now we have a bigger squad which should also have more quality but I don't want us to drop players after one poor performance as I don't think that will help anything in the long term. Yesterday was a tough away game, the first game of the season when people aren't necessarily at their best and will take a little time to find form. I would prefer us to make changes at this point based on tactical reasons, such as changes to the system or different ways we are intending to play at home compared to away from home, rather than changing things because one or two players didn't have their best game against Stoke.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

                    Crazy, isn't it?

Not to mention that he was one of the best players in the PL two years ago, one of our biggest goal threats last year (same amount of goals as Phil, in a lot less games) and one of our best players in pre-season.

Not sure what he's not up to, bar trying to stay fit.

Team wasn't sharp enough yesterday and too many didn't seem to know what to do with Benteke. If you don't know what people are capable of around you sometimes it just doesn't click.

Yesterday Lallana was only memorable for getting shrugged off the ball, but in fairness he never really got the ball in a position I'd be expecting him to do things from. Lallana at his best when doing quick one twos or running at players 25 yards from goal, ghosting either side. No one really linked with him yesterday.

On the right we at least had a decent combination with Clyne & Ibe whilst Hendo & Milner were happy to dart into space on the right as they could get in and whip a cross in on their stronger foot.

On the left we had Gomez who obviously always looked inside first being right footed (worked for the goal) and no one really offering Lallana an overlap. Would be different with Moreno of course, or even maybe with a left footed central midfielder.
                      Forwards.......

                        I think the team he selects will give us a good idea how much he's going to go for it at home this season. Given we have a week rest i'd say it'll be a similar team so the only positions up for grabs seem to be left back (he may go Moreno cos we're at home) and Lallana/Ibe's and Coutinho either playing wide left or in the middle. The others look like they need to play their way in. So it's 3 from the following;

                        Gomez/Moreno
                        Ibe/Firmino
                        Lallana/Can
Sack swinging like Dub-D40 on a door hinge

Rodgers may even decide to play two strikers in the home games, or one of them starting wide and cutting in like he did with Ings in one of the pre season games.

I have no idea who I'd pick for a cup final if everyone in the squad was fit.

I'd not be shocked to see Rodgers play three in attack - Firmino/Benteke and Ibe with Hendo/Milner/Couts behind. But more likely is Bentekers playing ahead of Firmino with Ibe on the bench and as you were for the rest. Though I suppose Lallana could pay for Stoke rather than Ibe.
