I dont know. Moreno, Can, and one could argue Lallana were all first team players last season. Moreno replaced with Gomez who is now first team. Although Can still plays in all our games.
I want Rodgers sacked for a number of reasons, but last night went just about perfectly in that we got to give a game to those who needed one. They are likely the toughest team in our group & we got a draw away from home.

If we were going great guns in the league not one person would have complained about that. A draw away to the toughest team in your European group would be a good result every season.

Adding to the fact we played some kids - great stuff.

I've always been a big fan of playing younger players. But really wish someone else had control of their development instead of rodgers. I dont know how Ibe can go from looking great last season to looking really poor this season.

Last season sure Moreno was a regular this season he definately isn't, for me Can and Lallana are very much on the fringes they have started about half of the league games this year which for me makes them squad players. We have a deeper squad now than we have had for a while so there will be alot of changing but of the players who have played last night I would only say Mignolet and Coutinho would be first choice throughout the season, Gomez is a regular at the moment but I expect him to be in and out of the side as the season progresses The rest are either youngsters or players that will get runs of games both in and out of the side unless they can really stake a claim or we get injuries to regular players. Sakho should be a regular but for a reason only Rodgers knows he isn't.

Ibe came in last season with nothing to lose. Sterling followed a similar path. Started really brightly and then people wanted him loaned because he'd gone off the boil.

Then he was put in a position that suited him perfectly, in a winning side, and everything came together. I feel for Ibe, he's our one true pace merchant and too much is being asked of him.

When he's fit Lallana plays. Can will likely be on the bench when Henderson is fit again. Moreno will be first choice again within a month at the most. In fact, possibly by the weekend.

Thought last night was ok....looking at the teams in our group, we "should" be able to make it out of that group playing a weakened team, so I don't buy the argument we're not taking it seriously. More, we are managing the players to be able to cope with the number of games we will be playing.

As regards the formation, given that we chose to rest players, it might be that playing 3 at the back was decided upon as it gave us more solidity at the back and it was a formation that suited the players we had at our disposal.

The match itself seemed a game of few chances for either side, and there were moments of good play surrounded by sheer tedium.

Now, assuming we go on to win our next game, it will be a pretty good result. But at present, that's a big "if".

I'm not sure about this to be honest - I think the plan is/was that he would be but I thought he was dropped after a couple of games because of fairly poor performances. I agree with Can I was editing/adding to my previous post when you were writing this to basically agree. Moreno similar to Lallana I think he obviously was planned to be first choice LB but I think there are doubts over him, so I wouldn't be suprised to see him in and out of the side.

Cans early season form as been average but he still hasn't played a lot of time in the role he claims is his best position. It's easy to forget that he is still only 21 because he looks older.

What does he claim to be his best position, cos both his International manager and his club manager seem to think he has defensive qualities, not attacking ones?

I don't think we know, I think he is a decent player and will get better but we need to find a position for him otherwise he will just become a utility player. To be honest I don't see him as having the discipline to play a DM role in the way someone like Lucas does, but I don't know that he could play and attacking role either. I think he has some limitations but he has potential. I think he has alot of enthusiasm and I would hate to see him lose than by being the player than is always moved to accomodate someone else.

I didn't mean academy players, I meant kids. If you think Gomez, Can, Origi, Moreno, and Ibe are senior and experienced players then you really have low expectations of what a well balanced and experienced Liverpool team should look like.

Although to be fair we aren't exactly rich with 24+ experienced players!
It's a squad game & we used some fringe players. That's why it was understandable as to why it was disjointed.

absolutely. For a young kid learning the game, playing him out of position is not doing anyone any favours. Square pegs in round holes time and time again, play to his strengths!

I've got my mr angry head on this week so maybe I'm not completely rational but I passionately believe I'm completely correct lol.

Rodgers is in his 4th season and has a lot to prove this year. He should have been able to field a stronger and better organized side.

It's disjointed because he doesn't know how he wants to play and is fielding a team that doesn't have enough experience.

It's not the fault of the fringe players and I don't blame them.
