Why on earth would Alves want to come to Liverpool ?
Sevilla are in fine form, won the UEFA Cup last season and are mounting a serious title challenge with a tremendous squad.
We're 10th in the table.
because we are a bigger club, he will earn more money and he wants to join us.
good enough for you sport

I wonder if Benitez has kept tabs on Sabri (?), the lad who tore us a new one down the right in the Gala game at Anfield. Haven't seen any of him since but he looked awesome that night. I imagine he wouldn't cost too much either

I was mystified as to why we didn't sign Malbranque. Didn't he go for 2mil or something?
But what has he done since then? He was injury prone and had a poor attitude - we made the right choice. Also he isn't a genuine winger and comes inside all the time just like Gerrard. There seems little point in buying in a player who presents all the problems of accomodating Gerrard into our team with about a quarter of the quality.
He is a talented player but not what we needed in any shape or form.

Something tells me we'd have been better off signing 5 players with that cash, two at £10m and 3 at somewhere in the region of £20m.
We'd have a far stronger side...
Actually Rafa's nett spend is £47m, having raised £30m through getting rid of some of the squad he
inherited from Houlier. If as suggested we had just purchased 5 quality players during Rafa's reign we
would have mightily under strength as a squad, especially given the numerous injuries suffered by the
modern player. I have a funny feeling that the same people screaming now would have been complaining
that Rafa hadn't spent wisely because we didn't have enough players available to cover injuries.
Also the short fall could not be made up from the relatively weak trickle of suitable talent from the
academy. Hopefully going forward Rafa will have the luxury of previous managers of only needing to
replace 2 max 3 players per season and having the money to buy the quality
we would all like to see here.
How about this guy? Couple of tubes of San Tropez and a sunbed should get him.

. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
