To be fair, the Hyypia Henchoz partnership was probably the best we have had in the past 30 years. WIth Babbel rightback and Carra left, that was an awesome defence, especially with Hamman in the holding role.

I seem to remember Houllier subbing Hamman for Smicer in a Champions League qf against Leverkusen while we were winning 2-1 on aggregate. We then shipped 3 goals in half an hour

Benitez made the same mistake against Milan in the Final... 3 goals conceeded. Play Hamman!

Once Benitez got rid, it wasn't until he signed Mascherano that we looked awesome again.

And Rodgers stubbornly refused to get a holding midfielder, and the team couldn't defend for ****
In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

Yeah, I think that excuses all the bad pretty well. But on the other hand I tend not to read his stuff anymore because it doesn't help.

Do you know, I lost interest in football around that time and didn't really watch any of those successes. I got back into it when Benitez joined and I moved to Australia.

I don't like the bloke. Hated our awful football under him. Didn't like his treatment of Fowler. However now the years have passed, I can respect what he achieved with the three trophies and he really does see himself as a red. Ultimately that's good enough for me.

Houllier didn't put up with Fowler's off field antics. To be fair to Houllier, if Robbie had managed to keep himself in better shape he would have been a world beater. Had tremendous natural ability but maybe wasn't taking care of himself off the field.
            Are we winning?

It never sat well with me all the stuff about the cl win with his team. I fully expect that if we win something major under Klopp he'll claim he helped by buying the cones that are still used at Melwood for training or something.
              In Klopp we trust.

Wonder what he gets paid as 'Global head of Football for Red Bull' sounds like a good gig that?

I like Houllier but for him to even attempt to take any credit for our 2005 CL win is embarrassing.

Exactly what I was thinking when I read that. Sounds like a sweet-as job with a six figure salary.

He has 50 scouts working for him ffs

It's probably the only six-figure salary job I reckon I could walk into without any sort of formal training

It sounds incredibly easy, undoubtedly a full expense account and just travel around the globe watching footy and scribbling a few notes if you see some unknown kid have a half decent game.

                    Piece of ****ing cake.

Hyypia and Henchoz the best partnership in the last 30 years???

So Lawrenson & Hansen or Gillespie / Hansen in the mid to late 80's wasnt better than them

Houllier had the best defence, Benitez the best midfield and Rodgers the best attack.

I hope Klopp gives us the best team.

I think Benitez had the best defence and midfield- we struggled up front until Torres. If Klopp gets anywhere near the Benitez 'golden years' I'll be happy.
