Why do obviously intelligent people behave so idiotically and in a sustained fashion?

I wondered if that might happen. I'd imagine their clients would be quite shocked to see that from a top level lawyer, and the publicity would surely be quite damaging. The guy should known better for sure, but there did seem an element of him revealing his true colours watching the interview.Originally posted by Shaggy View Post
I think it's a great stance to take. What he said, and the disrespect he displayed towards not just another team, but another city was completely out of order, and it has cost him his job.
The message this sends out is a good one

Underperforming lawyer gives firm a perfect opportunity to sack him shocker. Compare this to the Nick West fellow who engaged in epic bantz with the FA and is still lucratively employed because he bills shedloads with - yes, you've guessed it, the FA!Originally posted by Buzzo View PostI wondered if that might happen. He was apparently 2014 insurance Lawyer of the year, I assume that's an indicator of his standing, so he was not underperforming.
I know what you mean, it's pissing in the wind. But this guy clearly felt it was acceptable to 'air his views', this shows it is not.Modifying post.

You submit your own reviews for those awards, they're all bent. And you're only as good as your last performance. A bit of bringing the firm into disrepute is a god-sent cheap as chips instasacking in the world of law firms. Also, they're partners not employees so the sling your hook rules are a bit different. If he was bringing in the big bucks no way would they have binned him.Originally posted by Buzzo View Post
