You see sometimes for me it comes down to aggression as much as physical buildOriginally posted by The Birdman View PostYou can tell from looking at him Lec, he's slight. I'm not saying he couldn't be good he may well be in time but we bought him from Portugal, loaned him to Spain and France then he hardly got a kick for Villa 21's.
None of them physical leagues, I can't see him being strong enough atm to cope with powerful PL strikers.
Klopp's comments about Sinclair? "he's good for sure but very difficult to play 9 vs PL defenders"
Strongly rumoured links to Matip, the CM lad Grunjic?? (sp) being 6ft plus, Joe Allen not featuring as much in PL games recently when he's done well, Steven Caulker in on loan (instead of playing Ilori) all point to physicality being a big thing for Klopp.
Certainly CB and CM.
The thing he has is pace, and thats a huge asset that can help you avoid some of the physical aspectsBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Yep completely agree, I think he is an aggressive, front foot defender (to use modern parlance)Originally posted by Lecter View PostYou see sometimes for me it comes down to aggression as much as physical build

Just think he needs to be stronger upper body wise, what he needs imo is a loan to a good Championship club or a PL club where he'll play every week. The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

There's no question that his injury has been particularly badly timed, he would have certainly been in strong contention for these games. That the club have not rushed to extend his contract suggests that they do not see him as important in the scheme of things however. While we don't know why there is a "dispute" if there is one and its down to money then clearly one party has unrealistic expectations about the other.Originally posted by The Birdman View PostDifferent types of midfielders, Rossiter much better imo, his awareness and use of the ball far in advance of Brannigan.
Hardly ever gives the ball away, protects space brilliantly. Very intelligent footballer.
I think 2 games vs Exeter are missed opportunities for Rossiter with his injury, again imo he'd have started both of them.

Warning do not do an image search on puke in my mouth ... what has been seen cannot be unseen
Michael Owens whinny voice going on about the Anfield Faithful ... pause ... boring few words ... pause ... very obvious statement .... the grass is green out there today, both teams will want to play in it and score more goals than each other and The Anfield Faithful will like that ...... **** Off Michael ... just **** offAnybody who criticizes Klopp ever is a James Blunt. So we're now comparing Ilori to Carvalho and Ferdinand?
At 22 Ferdinand had played 150 plus games for West Ham and Bournemouth, 10 caps for England and was bought by Leeds for £18 million.
Carvalho had played 50 plus times over 2 loan spells in 2 seasons.
Ilori has played 40 times over 5 seasons for 4 different clubs.
I like Ilori, I'd be happy if he was our 4th choice CB and given the time and space to develop but he is too slight/weak at the moment to be a PL CB.
I'd have Lovren and Sakho as my 1st choice pair, Skrtel as 3rd choice and Ilori 4th.
Klopp clearly thinks otherwise or he wouldn't have signed Steven Caulker. The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

I'm not sure the Caulker signing was made because of any judgement on Ilori, if I remember correctly he was signed about the time Ilori got back from Villa, so Klopp wouldn't have had much time to judge him.Originally posted by The Birdman View PostSo we're now comparing Ilori to Carvalho and Ferdinand?

Surely the reason we signed Caulker was because at the time Sakho, Skrtel and Lovren were all injured (and Ilori hadn't been near first team football in 6 months) meaning we were desperate for CBs.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

So Klopp knew more about another team's player on loan at a different side than he did one of Liverpool's players?Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostI'm not sure the Caulker signing was made because of any judgement on Ilori, if I remember correctly he was signed about the time Ilori got back from Villa, so Klopp wouldn't have had much time to judge him.

The cub will have dvd's and scouting reports of every game Ilori played on loan and I expect Klopp knew of him as a young player at Sporting and Portugal.
Plus he'd have had first hand accounts from Beale, Inglethorpe etc... on what Ilori is like.
Yet still went and signed a big, strong, dominant CB on loan? The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Klopp hasn't seen him play this year and neither have any of the back room staff or scouts, because he hasn't played in that time. I don't see Klopp relying on old scouting reports and videos from a player who hasn't played this season and has never been a regular in a first team at any club, when he had so many players in that position out.Originally posted by The Birdman View PostSo Klopp knew more about another team's player on loan at a different side than he did one of Liverpool's players?
