Should Klopp throw the league for the cups?!

With the League Cup final in the bag and the prospect of Blackburn Rovers in the 5th round of the FA Cup plus a winnable round of 32 against Augsburg should Klopp just forget about the league and throw everything at the knock out games and switch the clubs resources accordingly?

It seems to make sense to me, it really doesn't matter if we finish 6th (at best?) or 10th beyond some merit money income. Plus all the games will give the Academy players so much experience - the kind that mixing cups and U21s can't provide.

Coutinho, Origi are due back in the next 10 days or so, with Hendo, Skrtel to follow.

From a non-football point of view how does the prize money go up per place in the league?

I just think that players aren't going to reject us for not winning to FA Cup - winning the UEFA might change things a little, but surely top players want to be in with a shout of the league don't they? Hard to convince a player of that from 6th place.

Yes. Top 4 has gone, full team for Leicester fine but I'd play the kids v Sunderland on the weekend, they'd probably beat them as well tbh.

Cups are still a bit of a lottery and it'd be a right ballache trying to attract players in the summer after finishing 10th. I can see the point of resting players ahead of a final or a European semi, but failing that I think we should push on both fronts and just juggle resources as best we can.

True enough but FSG never really wanted to appoint Dalglish beyond his good rescue spell (fan power made that happen) whereas Klopp is someone they wanted back when Kenny D was given the contract so they won't be binning him.

Nor should they but at the same time it puts him under undue pressure if we give up on the league cos a lot of fans wouldn't be on board with it, bread and butter etc. Plus you know there's loads out there waiting for him to fail so they can get on his case. We need to keep going as we are and if the kids keep performing, extra games won't be a problem.

A decent day tomorrow in the market and there's plenty left for us to achieve league wise.

i think we should play a slightly better strength team in the cups as it would be a realistic chance of actually winning something.

for out league games we will still be able to make use of some of the kids so we wont be totally giving up on the league but realistically top four is very unlikely virtually impossible.

Cups for me. Id rather win trophies than finish to qualify for a competition thats only purpose is to make us a little richer.

Arsenal were in a state of purgatory for 10 years finishing top 4 every year. **** that.
