Like ER says the schedule seems perfectly set to go ressies, full team, ressies. Gonna spend the next 12 days or so panicking about Lovren, Can and Sturridge though!
So then with the league a gonner that leaves the Europa League as the only point of interest.
Should Klopp split the squad in two or at least be willing to mix the presumed 18 man match squad for the league with several Academy players and keep the best mainstays fresh and hopefully injury free for the EL?
For me its the only sensible thing to do. Ward, Flanno, Ilori, Smith, Brannagan, Stewart, Teixeria, Kent and Ojo could be part of the first team squad for 2016-17 and the remaining dozen games would be an excellent testing ground for them.
Good to see Klopp has been of like mind essentially
Some rotation makes sense in the league, but we can't just rest up everyone that will play the final for 3 weeks and get out of match shape. So giving some youngsters a chance to play mixed with the first team squad seems sensible. Sorta like it's been for the past ~month anyways.
It will be a good experience for the young players Klopp think might make it like Ward, Ibe, Ojo, Stewart and Smith if he wasn't banned.
Never straightforward.
Some players would benefit from a rest, other benefit by playing regularly and staying in the rhythm of games.
Add in that Klopp wants to look at younger squad members.
Then factor in that Klopp is still trying to instill how he wants his teams to play mean it's not as straightforward as play the kids in PL and 'first team' in the EL final.
Someone is bound to get injured between now and then anyway, especially how it's gone for us this year
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.
Like I said I think it's set up to play reserves, first team, reserves in the remaining league games. Obviously there are players on the fringes of the first team, and there are first team players who will have to play because there aren't other players for their positions.
The final is less than two weeks away and we have 3 league games in between now and then. I would like to see no first team player play more than 2 out of the 3 that should mean that there is enough football for those who need to keep playing to keep a rhythm going and enough of a break for players not to be knackered by the time the final comes around.
Obviously the big concern is picking up injuries, particularly as we have/ have had so many injuries to key players this season, but I don't think that you can wrap the players in cotton wool between now and the final and expect them to play well after a couple of weeks break
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
