I'm not a huge fan of a lallana/firmino/coutinho three together.....just all a bit 'samey' not much pace there, no real width....Origi has looked good, he can go wide and run the channels and he gives a little bit of pace and penetration - it will also help sturridge who looks a bit leggy when played as a 'one up' top

The atmosphere is going to be electric. When was the last time we played them under the lights at Anfield? I know we played them in the capOne a couple of years ago in the toilet but the only night game i can remember at anfield is the 3-3 draw 20 years or so ago (3 down after 20 mins, nigel clough two goals followed by Ruddock header)

Was trying to think about this also and that is the last time I remember it being an evening game at Anfield.

I am normally worried about United games and always find them hard to call but I actually think we will batter them. Don't why but I think we will absolutely over run them, the crowd will be pumped which will create an amazing atmosphere and we'll win by at least 3 goals.

Rested.

It seems unthinkable to some that Klopp might actually drop players, not just 'rest' them.

It's not unthinkable, but it's normally pretty obvious when players are dropped or when they are left out, even at times when the manager claims otherwise.

Seeing as Coutinho has just had 4 weeks or so out with a hamstring he didn't need the rest.

Of course he needed the rest, he was just back from injury and played 5 games in less than 3 weeks, with the final obviously going to extra time.

Considering he scored 2 goals and assisted 2 in those 5 games, is it more likely he was dropped for that form, or rested because we had a nothing game 4 days after an exhausting 120 minute game?

And unlike Sturridge with his history of chronic injury problems over the past 18 months he doesn't need careful handling coming back to full fitness either.

Every player (bar Suarez) needs careful handling, which is why Klopp has chosen to rest him for the most important games of our season.

In my day we used to do that all the time. It added to the atmosphere. Or are you seeing it as a negative?

Given how inconsistent this team has been since Kloppy's arrival and our awful recent (and not so recent) record against United it's hard to share it.

We definitely need an early goal to settle us. If we get that it could be a special night.
