I think it's Sturridge's sense of humour. The ball flicks Sturridge's shorts and the ball hardly changes direction (if at all). It is - and should be - Coutinho's all day long.

Really?! I thought he was absolutely terrible. His running off the ball was non existent - all he had to offer was head down, narky charging at the Liverpool defence that would eventually peter out, he would then check back on himself and pass it backwards or run into Lovren or Sakho.

He's too heavily built imo, looks like he's bulked up too much and hasn't got enough energy to play high tempo football. He doesn't track back either. He seems brainless too me. Explosively brainless, I grant you, but brainless all the same.

He knows that Alli is the new golden child of English football.

I have never laughed so much at a game of football as I did last night. That period of possession, which seemed like it was 20 minutes or so, was genuinely hilarious. Sometimes you’ll think about the cost of a ticket, and £50 to get in for 90 minutes of football can sometimes feel a ridiculous amount of money for what’s on offer, but that was worth every penny and more last night.

It felt more like an exhibition match towards the end, with Lucas even having a long ranger for the fun of it. The strange thing is, they started pretty quickly, and it looked like it might have been a tight affair for that period, but the screw was turned and the game was over even before the first goal went in.

You can’t play with one eye on the next fixture against a motivated Klopp team. Teams will get hammered, and so it was proven!

I think under a quality coach, he'd be amazing. Very direct, in good positions between the lines, but under Martinez, he's faltering. The whole team are faltering in their lack of effort off the ball. That guy Shaggy posted, said on the Redmen TV that Everton will not press or track back in the pre-match build up.

I think he's a very rough diamond that needs polishing.

Maybe. We’ve seen the positive effect a new manager can have on players first hand here. I just don’t think he has the game intelligence to be a proper class player. He’ll be effective in the Premier League, but so were players like Barton and Nolan in their day.

Probably not the game to judge him on but I agree - I think Barkley is a good player also. His stats are decent for the season too.

It was a strange start to the game too - I agree with Dan7 - I thought they started pretty well. They tried to outrun and out press us and it was relatively effective for 10-15 mins. Milner was late on about 5 tackles and we were over run without being under any pressure. But then once we figured them out we utterly crushed them, and they threw the towel in big time.
                          Modifying post.
