Because I've watched this season and although he's done some **** kicks to the half way line, miss read some crosses and been up and down in form, he's also had quite a few MOM nominations. I also watch other teams and can see goalkeepers who should have done better at times in most games. He's not dross, he's not great, he has some obvious failings and he can be improved upon. But he hasn't cost us 4th place, he wasn't a liability when we came second and replacing him isn't likely to push us up the table significantly, unless we find and persuade a worldie to sign. Replacing him is something we should do, but I'm not one of the people who calls him a cunt in match threads, ignores his good performances and thinks replacing him is a silver bullet. But yeah, 'mignolet, what a **** cunt liability' is easier I guess, and someone said he made 15 mistakes that lead to goals, so they're analysis is obviously correct and it's obviously an unacceptable number regardless of context and comparative numbers.

I'm not basing my opinions on the stats though, just in what I see.
      3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Schalke and Matip went from 2:0 to 2:3 at home in the space of six minutes yesterday... It's like he's played for us already.

Mignolet isn't a terrible keeper, he would be good for a midtable club, keepers at that level can get away with mistakes like he makes as long as he is making saves the rest of the time. If you have alot of work to do for a midtable side he would probably save them more points than he would cost them. The problem is we are wanting to compete at the top end of the table and at that level those mistakes are magnified - if you don't have alot of work to do a single mistake can make you look bad because you don't do enough to make up for it.

It is very much a concentration issue and I think that alot of keepers struggle to do nothing for 40 mins and then do what they need to when called upon.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I bet his corners are already hitting the first man too.

I taped that to watch and to update the Matip thread but it doesn't sound worthy of updating
