He's withdrawn from the Olympics so that he could play for us

What is your certainty that he wouldn't have started as 1st choice based on?
His lack of experience and the fact that our current number one was given a 5 year contract fairly recently by the existing management. No way will mignolet want to be a number 2. Therefore he must of had some reassurances that he would be starting otherwise there would be rumours of looking for a move. There's been nowt. I think some people confuse reality with what they hope will happen. I'm all for getting rid of mignolet but I'd personally hope we blew a load of cash, the TV cash for example, on the best we can get. We all know the importance of a great keeper. Look at Utd. Yet we choose to shop at poundland in the hope of unearthing a decent talent. I'm digressing. Money isn't everything. Pre injury I would have wagered a lot on Mig starting.

Karius doesn't lack experience. He's played well over 100 Bundesliga games, that's more senior appearances than Reina arrived with.

Yes Mignolet got a new contract, but that hasn't stopped us signing a new goalkeeper since then. I'm sure Mignolet doesn't want to be no.2, but Karius arrives here as an established 1st choice, not a back up and I doubt he'd have moved to be an understudy.

His fee won't determine his place in the pecking order. However it was lower than his true market value because LFC took advantage of his release clause.

I have always seen it as the two of them battling it out for the No 1 spot both are established first choice keepers so neither wants to be back up. I had assumed whoever did best in preseason would start as No 1 and then it would go from there.

Obviously the injury to Karius puts Mignolet in as No 1 by default, it is now up to Mignolet to prove that he should keep his place and Karius has to earn his chance when he comes back from injury.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Nah... Mig is still a liability at times. A good backup. His distribution will always be poor, and his command of the area and catching are at times unreliable. Funny thats part of why we sold Pepe. At least he started attacks a lot quicker. Still think it was stupid to get rid, but I guess personalities clashed

We need him desperately for that LB position.
