This was and is my concern about Karius. The second he makes a clanger.. pitch forks are ready. The ball going through legs in warm up vs Chester, clanger tonight. Social media in over drive, opposition fans taking the piss, opposition player giving abuse.... the season hasn't started yet. I think we will massively regret not going all out for a better replacement.

It’s like we’re just not allowed to sack this man.

He’s been here 9 years and survived 5 different managers. Yet every 1st team and back up keeper in this period appear to have massively regressed under his coaching.

When does he become in any way accountable? Surely someone at the club must think it might be worth trying a change here.

i'm more worried about the 'support' he gets from our fans than his ability tbh, I think his position is untenable now tbh

two years this week since I first seen him play, dug this out

I remember been stunned at our new number one, to get back to the car to hear David Davis appointed Brexit sec and Boris foreign sec and being equally stunned these things come in three...

There is absolutly no defending the lad to be our no 1 keeper. Anyone who thinks he still deserves a chance is in denial.

There's people out there saying "It's only pre season and it's ok as it's best he makes mistakes now"

These people obvious have forgotten that he made two mistakes in the biggest club game in world football and cost us the European cup.

It's hard to feel sorry for someone picking up 60k a week and not justifying it.

Whatever people think it looks like we're stuck with him, so we might as well get behind him whatever we think. Disappointing as it it.

It's a discussion forum. Those who got behind Mignolet and defended him ad nauseum achieved nothing.

That said, calling Karius ****e ad nauseum won't achieve anything either.

Mignolet was and is a better keeper than Karius. If they're no incoming keepers then he is the best we have (haven't seen enough of ward to say)

Mignolet is even worse, he basically concedes every shot and makes just as many mistakes.

I feel so sorry for Karius, god... He was ready to be our n.1 but that elbow's ****ed him, I don't think he'll actually have a career in top level football now

Loris Karius: Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp defends keeper after mistake in friendly

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has defended goalkeeper Loris Karius after another mistake - this time in a pre-season friendly against Tranmere.

The 25-year-old German spilled a free-kick that allowed the hosts to score in Liverpool's 3-2 win at Prenton Park.

Karius was at fault for two goals in Liverpool's 3-1 defeat by Real Madrid in the Champions League final, but it was later revealed he had concussion.

"Mistakes will happen; I don't like it, he doesn't like it," said Klopp.

Klopp said Karius "could" have saved the shot, but that it was "not easy to deal with".

"Let's carry on and make the best of all these situations by learning from them," said Klopp.

The German added that Karius will continue to be criticised until "he has a few fantastic games".

Liverpool had led 3-0 at half-time after goals from Rafael Camacho, Sheyi Ojo and Adam Lallana, before Jonny Smith and Amadou Soukouna hit back for Tranmere.

People on Twitter going mad at his comments. Jeez. Still amazes me people take what managers say in public at absolute face value - do they expect him to say "Yeah it was another wank mistake, he's ****ing wank". Ffs.
