I think it is fair to say loads of keepers take a while to settle. But Karius probably needs to offer a fair bit more to allow us to believe.

It's also true though. There are similarities. He was a talented young keeper who couldn't save a shot at first and took ages to settle.Originally posted by Daniel 7 View Postall this "de Gea came good eventually" is grasping at best.
His confidence is shot right now. It's hard to assess him at the moment. The big question for me is will dropping him now help or hinder him.

I don't buy that.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostHis confidence is shot because he was promoted to the number one slot too early, before he was ready, and when Mignolet was doing alright. Made no sense then and doesnt now.
If you're good enough, then you're good enough.
I don't believe a player can improve if he's not playing either.
Woodburn scored a goal in his second game. It wasn't too early for him to play.
Players need games to build on.
That's not to say Karius can't improve. All players can.
Goalkeepers seem to have different rules applying to them for whatever reason.Oh I don't know.

I don't know if he'll ever reach De Gea levels, nobody else knows that he won't either but I do know he was voted the second best keeper by his fellow pro's last season so he's clearly not ****e like many are saying he is. Its way too early for anybody to be able call his ability one way or the other definitively. He is what we have, he needs time to show us if he's the answer or not cos the other fella isn't.Last edited by G; 06-12-16, 06:42 PM.

Woodburn smashed the ball into the net from 8 yards, a transferable skill all over the world, never mind in the same country for the same club you've been at for 8 years. Karius has moved to a new league, goalkeeping is not identical in England and Germany (do you buy that?), and he could have adapted more with more time in training and appearances in cup games. Mig was playing ok so there was no rush. Imo.Originally posted by dom9 View PostI don't buy that.

Yes, of course I buy that the leagues are different. But playing him in training or reserve or cup games is no substitute for experiencing the difference in those leagues. How could it be?Originally posted by Kenneth View PostWoodburn smashed the ball into the net from 8 yards, a transferable skill all over the world, never mind in the same country for the same club you've been at for 8 years. It's a substitute, but obviously it's not like learning by being in at the deep end, but there's risk to that. He came in against Derby and wasn't great by any means. He was bad against Swansea but he's stayed in the team and been pretty average overall (at best) since. We should have kept Mig in the side until Karius was obviously going to be an improvement, Mig started the season pretty well and didn't deserve dropping, and now we have two keepers who are probably low on confidence. Whatever the plan was, I doubt it was supposed to go like this.Originally posted by dom9 View PostYes, of course I buy that the leagues are different. Bit of **** going on with Karius and Gary Neville
Leading to the son of Neville Neville referencing Carra's criticism the other dayWhat critics say right after the game, I don’t know what I think. If you asked them again would they say it now?
‘And I don’t care what Gary Neville said. He was a manager for a short bit and now he is back to being an expert again.
‘But he is always very critical. I think he does it to everyone. I just hope that when I do well he will comment on that. We will see in the future.’
As much fun as it is bringing up the Neville's managerial masterclass, it might be best for Karius to concentrate on his game first and foremost, and shove it down his throat the right way."I will make the boys feel your support"

Either way Neville is right on this.Originally posted by ChesterDave View PostSo Neville who is paid handsomely for his own opinion won't back it up with hiding behind and copying Carra? Is he not paid enough for to give his own opinion?
Karius is ****e right now. He needs to stop poncing around with his hair and posing for photos in his ripped jeans and knuckle down to being a decent keeper.
I fear the more abuse he gets the more klopp will stubbornly back him ala wenger.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

Anyone siding with Neville on this is a bellend. He got a bit back then ran off to instagram to hide behind Carra when Karius had already acknowledged what Carra said anyway. This is th same Neville who on sky last week said he was happy to change the subject to criticising Liverpool as it meant he didn't have to talk about another hapless Utd display. He's a bitter cunt.
