Mignolet didn't happen to make his errors in pre-season but he absolutely had a deluge of articles about him when he lost his number 1 spot on both occasions.

There were also match reports on the bbc mentioning his error. I do recall ironic cheers in a game after he made a mistake actually, can't remember which one though.

But my point was not in the specific detail of the comparisons but rather in the fact that Karius whilst deserving of some sympathy, shouldn't expect or actually receive any because few footballers do nowadays - at least from my perspective being a fan over the last two decades.

If a man is abused for not caring about his career (without any actual evidence) whilst being injured (studge/enrique), why is it more shocking someone is jeered by 'fans' or has articles written about him after making mistakes.

    anywho, thats my 2 cents.

      That's class

I'd love to see a Bouffon bloopers reel cos for one of the best goalkeepers in the world, he's sure had a lot of howlers, even in the last 2 CL campaigns where he's cost Juve big goals in big games.

Fair play to Casillas, Sure most keepers have been through tough times.

I think the difference is two-fold. The first is that Karius' error was enormous rather than just down to being generally ****. The second is he was clearly distraught crying etc which meant your heart had to go out to him. Throw in social media as well and it's brought out the protective side of our fans. So in some ways it's understandable that he's getting more sympathy than others like Tanner, Piechnik, Konchesky etc.

Whilst the sympathy is understandable I don't think we should let sentiment be the leader of whether or not he's between the sticks. Klopp clearly hasn't.

Proper respect to Casillas. He’s not even a team mate or a fellow countryman

If all 3 of our GKs leave as it looks likely, questions about their training and preperation must be asked.

I mean fair dos to Casillas. But that does come across as him saying "Look how brilliant I am, even I make mistakes"

Nothing wrong with that at all.

I didn't realise Liverpool fans were abusing him at the match itself in numbers, that's completely off.
I should hope not, I'm assuming it's the away support, although I'm sure there are more than few dickheads joining in with them.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

When he played at Anfield last season he got a heroes welcome by the Kop,he's probably bemused why the same people are abusing their own.

No doubt Karius asked for advice after the game too.

Obviously Alisson is the ideal scenario, but getting an old head in as number two would have helped him through this

Against Bury there was more than half of Liverpool fans by me. Doing ironic oohh as the ball approached him followed by cheers. Helpful stuff.

To be fair to Karius, he's never done what Casillas did at :27 of that vid.

                            Well...not yet anyway.
