If Klopp stays true then they will be used to work out formations and build up fitness, the scores will be irrelevant.

Unlike English internationals which are played as competitive matches!

It's a joke hey but whatever it takes to support multi-million pound contracts etc.

            Free????

Nothing is free at this club my friend.

If they can find a way to suck more money out of us mug punters they will.

I think there is even a plan to charge us for breathing the air in the ground.

I wouldn't be surprised If Ryanair became our sponsors

No just ignore all preseason completely.

This is what Klopp said about pre-season.

“In all of the pre-season games we will play we will play out full training. So if we play our best in pre-season then I’ve done something completely wrong,” Klopp explained, as Liverpool’s pre-season campaign was revealed.

“It’s another session, it’s not about beating our opponents. I don’t care about how big the opponent is we will say nothing about the situation.”

Of course, some will ignore this, and go full on mental when we lose most of the friendlies.

Fair play, if it still excites you then go ahead, I remember those days, long since gone now. The actual proper stuff hardly registers anymore.

Well that speaks about you not me! The first pre-seasons games are full of intrigue for player watchers like me - I want to see how Grujic handles Championship tackling, is Karius as good as we hope, how will Mane and Ballotelli work together?!

It's all before us - no point assuming the worst just yet.

Yeah I get excited after not seeing us play for a bit. It's a time to run the eye over new signings & those returning from loan spells if nothing else. Can't wait till Saturday morning.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Bought a ticket for the Wigan game last night, it was only a tenner. Ridiculously difficult to buy tickets from their site though, fortunately I remembered that I'd registered with them a few years ago and could buy tickets because I'd previously bought tickets for a game there. I heard a story today that Roy Keane went to the DW to watch a match and they wouldn't let him in because it's policy that nobody can buy a ticket on the day of the match. He offered to buy a season ticket just to get in to see that particular game and they still refused!

Is Tranmere v Liverpool on TV? Plus everything you need to know

                              What time is kick off?

                              It’s a 7pm start at Prenton Park.

                              Where can I watch it?

Well, if you have time then you can dive through the Mersey Tunnel (£1.70 each way) and watch it in person. Tranmere will have a number of cash turnstiles (old school) in operation on the night, though are urging supporters to get there early to avoid delays. Tickets are priced £20 adults, £15 seniors and young persons and £8 under-18s.

Otherwise, the game will be screened live on LFCTV and LFCTV GO, while the ECHO will be running its usual matchnight blog, with myself and Ian Doyle in the office, and Andy Kelly and James Pearce at the game.

Who should I look out for in the Tranmere team?

Centre back Michael Ihiekwe is a former Liverpool trainee, as is Steve McNulty. Captain Steve Jennings and midfield partner Jay Harris came through the ranks at Everton, while goalkeeper Iain Turner also turned out for the Blues. Rovers have a number of new signings set to make their debut, and are also likely to include a few trialists as well.

                              Who is their manager?

Gary Brabin is in charge at Prenton Park. The 45-year-old Scouser took over for the 2015-16 season, having previously managed Cambridge United, Luton Town and Southport (twice). Brabin enjoyed a long and nomadic playing career, taking in clubs such as Blackpool, Bury, Hull and Torquay, and guided Rovers to sixth place in the National League in his first season on the Wirral.

                              Any team news?

Well, Liverpool’s line-up could be pretty interesting. The bulk of their squad, minus Philippe Coutinho and the Euro 2016 contingent, has been back in training since Saturday, so expect Jurgen Klopp to make full use of his squad. That should mean debuts for Loris Karius, Joel Matip and Sadio Mane – it is not clear whether Marko Grujic will feature. Look out, too, for returning loanees Mario Balotelli and Lazar Markovic, and youngsters Ben Woodburn, Ovie Ejaria and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

When did the teams last meet?

Competitively, it was in an FA Cup quarter-final clash back in March 2001. Liverpool won 4-2 at Prenton Park, against a Rovers side managed by Reds favourite John Aldridge. Danny Murphy, Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard and Robbie Fowler grabbed the goals – Liverpool would go on to lift the cup as part of their historic ‘treble’.

The last time the sides met in a friendly was in July 2008, Liverpool winning 1-0 at Prenton thanks to a goal from Yossi Benayoun. The team that day included the likes of Philipp Degen, Andriy Voronin and Damien Plessis.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
