FT. **** performance, **** game overall; still a friendly (although not a very friendly one)

I would say that I'm sorry I got up for this, but I actually woke up an hour before the game because a cheeseburger from last night gave me the worst feverish hangover nightmare I've had in a while.

Hopefully we're better against AC Milan

Horrible game to watch. Chelsea look like they could be a right pain in the arse to play against this season. Hopefully the head knocks are not too serious. Moreno continues to frustrate, soft set piece to concede.

On the brightside other than that corner we did not look like conceding another against a team on paper that looks a shade stronger than us. Keeper is organising the team well, Mane looks a handful

Its never nice to lose in pre season but its for fitness. Conte's style of play is defensive and they will sit deep and counter. Your team doesn't need to be super fresh to play this way. Our style relies on intensity, counter pressing and full throttle football which you cant play if your legs are like jelly from training or if you're being beasted constantly.

I'm not making excuses but in all the friendlies I've seen, our intensity and counter pressing weren't there. If you don't play that style its easier to adapt in pre-season. Kloppos trying this 433/4141 formation which was clear in the game. It doesn't suit firmino who hasn't looked comfortable yet.

All of these challenges are so that we think about finding solutions. That's what Klopp said. He's also said that if we are at our best in pre-season, then he's done something wrong.

I wouldn't have cared if we'd lost 4-0. I believe it will help the team when coming up with similar challenges in competitive games.

              Yep.

You can see that after around 30 mins our legs seem to go in every game. Even when its all changes at half time, the next lot go at 30 as well. Its about fitness and preparation for the competitive games but no one likes to lose.

                Klopp before pre-season.

“In all of the pre-season games we will play we will play out full training. So if we play our best in pre-season then I’ve done something completely wrong.

“It’s another session, it’s not about beating our opponents. I don’t care about how big the opponent is we will say nothing about the situation.”

Perhaps I've overreacted then. I did take some time out of work to watch this!

Yeah, didn't we have 90mins intense in the morning. Klopp mentioned it was the plan anyway so i was expecting the players to be a bit flat. ****ed if i was getting out of bed for that.

Recorded this match to watch after the gym and took precautions not to find out the score. Of course the first bloody thing I hear after the gym is the score, so didn’t even bother watching.

Was annoyed initially, but saved me a half day this morning, so gonna take all day Monday off instead so I can enjoy the boxing and Milan match on Sunday morning.

Fabregas is a snide little cunt - what was he playing at flying in like that?!?

Should get a 5 match ban for doing something like that in a friendly ffs

And yesterday he said he wanted to win the tournament. I agree though, results don't matter.

Of course, it would be nice to win matches and cups during pre-season, but his ultimate aim is fitness and tactics. Who is going to remember the winner of this tournament when the seasons starts?

He knows it, but winning always adds a nice little feeling.

Was a very good header from Cahill though, not as much of a system failure as we're used to.

Hopefully with Matip and Ragnar on board, we'll score a few of them ourselves this year. Not since Skrtel a few years ago have we looked like scoring goals like that.

On Matip, Klopp confirmed he should be fit for season opening, been training for a week.
