    A while back now!

I meant in the league atm - Arsenal's back up CBs are wank, Spurs have that no-mark Wimmer, and City and United's CB are almost all ****e.

I'm perfectly happy with Klavan if he's 4th choice, which I think was the intention.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Lingering at the bottom of page 8 behind the Manniger, Widsom and Steven caulker threads.

But big Ragnar is quietly going about his business, not being bullied as much and keeping things simple. Much improved of late.

Hope I haven’t scudded him, but if he keeps this up then we’ve ne reason to rush Matip back.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I've no idea what the tweaks as that Klopp's made but the back five look relaxed and seem to know what's expected of them. Mignolet doesn't seem to have much to do outside of the big games, he's well protected. If we can sort out set pieces then we'll be a decent unit

Strange as I was thinking him and Wijnaldum looked like the only players close to giving Bournemouth a goal. Everyone else played really well.

I think the back line have been hugely protected by the quality we have in attack. Very few teams are willing to properly commit in attack other than on the counter and we normally are able to outnumber them when they do. If one of Lovren and Klavan don’t win the ball the first time other manages to.

Having said that, the consistency has been excellent from them, and Robertson has slotted in well nicely next to him. It’s much easier to win games when you aren’t conceding

so klavan is our left sided CB, he came in and immediately improved the perception that moreno was rubbish [ ] as his experience and positioning has helped moreno no end.

had lovren moved across to right CB now.
lovren seemed a bit dodgy as the left CB but thats supposedly his preferred position... all very confusing?
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

I alluded to it in one of the threads recently and he's not really putt a foot wrong in the last month or so - That said, he gave the ball away a little too cheaply on one or two occasions yesterday.

Exactly, as did Wijnaldum. We have been punished heavily from these lapses already this season. Probably wouldn't have mattered to the result with the form the fab four-ish were in but my head was in my hands anyway.

Obviously you miss a lot when watching games live, but I didn't see him do much wrong and every decent chance that Bournemouth created, Lovren was much more culpable IMO.

That's not to say he didn't, just that it escaped me.

Wijnaldum had 95% passing accuracy and Klavan was our second best with 92%.

2 passes Wijnaldum wasted according to the stats.

There was one into Coutinho in the 2nd half which was unwise and gave them a chance and then a very untimely slip who gave them a a 3 vs 3

Defoe post which really should have been 2-1. Courtesy of Wijnaldum and no one else. These are the whoppers that have put us in fourth instead of second.

It was a first time pass back to Coutinho that was intercepted, it wasn't even a bad pass. He's unfortunate that one of his 2 misplaced passes led to a good chance, but that's not entirely his fault and there were plenty of other players guilty of a lot worse that led to nothing.

This has been our vulnerability though - we hardly ever get overrun in games, normally we have succumbed to fast breaks and defensive mistakes. Recently, those defensive mistakes have been fewer and haven't been as ruthlessly punished as previously - at one point it seemed like we conceded every decent chance the opposition would have.

Klavan was bought as a 4th choice centre back, to provide cover when others are out. In that sense he has been another transfer success.

Like others I don't think he has done much wrong in his recent spell in the 1st team and Matip could have a fight to get back into the team.
