We're playing Arsenal away, we've only won there once since they moved grounds and they are a good team. They're bound to come at us at some point. Yet apart from a wicked deflection and a moreno brainfart I thought we actually restricted them to relatively few chances.

We need a new left back, clearly, but I thought Klavan was a positive in defence. In midfield it was good to see us arriving in the box from deep, even if we still lack control. Up front we are looking very sharp.

Great way to start the season.

We have an abundance of attacking talent but we are desperately lacking a CM that can win tackles and take pressure off the defence. CBs where tall over the place..... and then there was Moreno. If Klopp sees him as our LB for this season..... well I don't know what to think about that.

Was a cracking result though. We look brilliant going forward, Mane is going to be unreal.

Not sure how Matip will improve a problem of organisation and focus. For twenty minutes we were absolutely brilliant and never offered Arsenal a sniff. We just need to replicate this more often and game manage better. It can't be heavy metal all the time.
            Are we winning?

Klavan certainly had a tendency to drop deeper but I'm putting that down to nerves on his competitive debut and being at a new club.

Mignolet's hesitancy and failure to claim balls he should be coming for where there for all to see. No chance with any of the goals but there are some underlying problems that just won't go away.

Hendo/Wijnaldum is not one's idea of control, Can will surely start the next game.

Klavan was excellent dunno why anyone would have issue with him today

I thought Klavan did well to be honest....considering I've not heard of him/signed as 4th choice and it's his debut.

I feel that our whole team as a unit is defensively poor...because we don't have a good solid tackling dm, the defence tends to drop deeper and deeper especially when under pressure....same issue we have had for a number of years

Need to sort our midfield though.

Henderson-Lallana-WIjnaldum all do the same thing. That is not a cohesive midfield unit at all.

Splash the cash and get Dahoud if we can.

Firstly our attacking play in the second half was fantastic, Coutinho was amazing, Mane adds another dimension to our game, but the problems were what we expected at the start Wijnaldum and Henderson in CM isn't a solid partnership, they are too easily dominated, Moreno is a defensive nightmare, and there are still misunderstandings at the back, and as good as our attacking play was good, our defensive play was poor, based on the game today it's looking like another Rodgers/Keegan style season of we need to score one more than the opposition and win games 4-3 because we can't close games out, if we could we would have won that 4-1.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

It's the first game of the season away from home, we're bound to be a bit nervous and won't have our rhythm yet.

On the positive side, we have Matip and Stewart for the DM role if Klopp wants. We definitely need to sort out the LB position or sides will relentlessly attack us down that side.

Coutinho was magical, totally world class for the freekick, third goal and the pass to Wijnaldum which led to Lallana's goal.

It's also great to see our new boys get involved - Wijnaldum got an assist and Mane got a wonder goal. Not bad for our first game back!

Brilliant result. Like I said the other week, any team who stops us scoring will do amazingly well, we have the most firepower in this league, easily. No other team can have a quality striker out, another on the bench and still do that!

Didnt even think we defended *that* badly either tbh, they barely created anything and got lucky with the 2nd especially. Can was an excellent sub though, calmed it all right down and Arsenal offered **** all after that.
Coutinho is raw, inconsistent, **** alright. Wij was ****ing class second half, very impressive. Mane is god, has defenders ****ting themselves like Suarez did.

Absolute joke that cunt Coquelin wasnt sent off aswell. Xhaka is a **** yard dog cunt too.

Great result. They put us under pressure from the start. We cruised at times. The forced substitutions made them a better team for a while and they fought back. 3 points. Well happy

Great result to start the season off with. Even if there are lots of obvious areas to work on from the performance.

For me the biggest problem is we need to work out how to be a robust defensive unit (as a whole team) when we're not aggressively high pressing, we have a tendency on those situations to step off too much and become very reactive. Moreno - we can talk about the merits of replacements etc but when we do play him we will need to protect him more, he will be targeted and exposed otherwise.

Big positives aside from the result itself, Klavan looked really solid, Mane showed the kind of threat and ability to get defenders facing goal we've been missing, Coutinho is ****ing magic, and once we shed some of the 1st half rust and started trusting ourselves in possession the combinations were really good for so early on in the season.

                                Bring on Burnley!
