I've tried very hard to forget C...... I expect Lucas to play less & less this season but only time will tell, & injuries of course.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

He was on his way out the door until Matip got injured, so you would imagine that his game time would be limited. However, he’s been in this situation every year since Rafa left and he always seems to find a way to force his way back into the team.

      Lucas.

I meant 'didn't he play well' in some big games. I'm sure he was near MotM in one of the City games, maybe the Cup Final? I'd have no problems with him playing v Chelsea. I guess it depends if Lovren is fit or not. That shiner didn't look like it was going to go down in a hurry.

i'd say Can for Wijnaldum would be likely however for me, Can always seems to struggle for a game or two when he's been out. He looks like he needs a couple of games to get back to speed - so Chelsea away isn't ideal

I would say Derby Country in the Cup next up would be a much better game to ease him back into the team

I've said for a while that I think Klopp sees Lucas as a CB, this may sound harsh but it is IMO the only way Lucas has a future at the club, as there's no way I see him fitting into a Klopp midfield.

I think that Lovren and Matip are probably first choice but I think Lucas is higher up the CB pecking order than many on here think.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I missed the game on the weekend.

I take it Coutinho didn't play?

Is correct. Long flight back from Brazil so not used from the bench made sense.

Phil was used from the bench, he came on with about 15 mins left.

I thought his intelligent passing from the back was an important element of our drubbing of Leicester?! His pass out wide to Milner for the first goal, well, I can't see Lovren or Sakho capable of that type of pass.
I think against Chelsea, Lovren might be better than Lucas to have. Defending set pieces will be important.

That said, I wouldn't be sad to see Lucas start at all. And lets say Klopp threw some sort of curveball and started Lucas in midfield instead of Hendo or Gino, then I wouldn't be gutted either.

What is obviously apparent from all of this thread though is the fact that our squad is so much better now. And Klopp has achieved this without spending any money. Brilliant.
