'Other countries have their legs on the sofa'
Even more from Jurgen Klopp: "Forty-eight hours between two games - how does this work?
"And then you will sit there and say 'you didn't perform too well, how did this happen?' or 'injuries. Oh?' and then this Dutch guy [Raymond Verheijen, who is critical of Klopp] says 'The training is not too good'.
"How do you prepare a team for this. Do you say 'only 50% against City because we have Sunderland on Monday'?
"It doesn't sound like it is right. Everyone is asking why England is not too successful in big tournaments.
"Ask what other big countries are doing at this time - they have their legs on the sofa and are watching English football."Klopp 'cannot believe' new year fixtures
More from angry Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp at his side's fixtures around Christmas being moved.
They face Stoke on 27 December, Manchester City on 31 December and Sunderland on 2 January.
"Now I have seen the fixtures and I am not too happy. We have less than 48 hours between our game against Manchester City and in Sunderland. Less than 48 hours, I cannot believe.
"I learn more and more about this league and maybe I have to ask someone if we can ask if there will be another time for us at Sunderland.
"I understand tradition - I would never say Boxing Day is not a good idea as I love it.
"I don't know why we play Monday. Is 2 January a special day in England?"' Comparable to El Clasico'
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho: “The season for me is not about the Anfield match and the Old Trafford match in January. The season is about many matches, many points to win, lose and targets to achieve.
"I always like to play at Anfield. I won many times there, I also lost. I won big matches, lost big matches so I cannot say I like to go there because I'm always successful, it's not true.
"I like the atmosphere, normally the characteristics of the matches.
"Being Manchester United manager means something more because we cannot compare the historical rivalry between my previous club and Liverpool and Man United and Liverpool.
"It's just a big match that can be comparable to Inter-Milan to Madrid-Barcelona, maybe Porto–Benfica. Maybe comparable to one of these matches and I like."
Klopp slams fixture changes
Jurgen Klopp admits his manager of the month award was tarnished by news that his team's game with Stoke has been moved to 27 December and the kick-off against Manchester City on 31 December altered to 17:30 GMT ahead of the 19:45 GMT start against Sunderland on 2 January.
"It's a nice prize, but unfortunately a second ago I saw the new fixture changes! I can't believe we have less than 48 hours between City and Sunderland. Maybe we can ask if there's another time for Sunderland."
'I've not much to say'
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho was asked if Liverpool are title challengers.
"You have to ask them. They are a good team."
And he was asked what he made of Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.
"I've not much to say."
Gomez on the comeback trail
Jurgen Klopp confirms England Under-21 defender Joe Gomez is back in full training for Liverpool after 12 months out with a knee ligament injury.
Klopp hopeful over injury doubts
Jurgen Klopp says England midfielder Adam Lallana and Netherlands attacker Georginio Wijnaldum have not been ruled out for Monday night's game, while defenders Nathaniel Clyne and Dejan Lovren should be available.
Too early for title talk
Liverpool have won their last four league games and are in fourth spot, only two points behind leaders Manchester City but Jurgen Klopp says it is "too early" to think about the league title.
Klopp wary of Rooney threat
Wayne Rooney may not be a regular starter for Manchester United or England these days but Jurgen Klopp says: "He's a goalscorer and always a threat - he's a world class player."
'Never just a normal game'
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is aware of the significance of Monday's game at Anfield. "The whole world will watch Liverpool-Man Utd," he says. "As long as I live this will never be just a normal game. It's up to us to perform at our best."What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

I feel positive about this but if we have an "off" day they have the tools to hurt us. Night game at Anfield vs United, electric atmosphere should get a super charged performance from us.
BUT
Long balls, set pieces, Fellaini, Zlat etc and a nervy defense and we could struggle.
Mane could cause havoc vs them though.

Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

Always, keep your face to the sun, and shadows will fall behind you.

Agreed.Originally posted by redmike65 View PostCity held, Liverpool can go joint top with a win or outright with a big victory.
You'd hope Klopp will make sure they are just thinking about the match and not the table.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

In recent years we tended to **** up when our 'rivals' dropped points - beat United and we have real momentum. Everything is with us but I am worried about this - form tends to go out the window in these games.Originally posted by redmike65 View PostCity held, Liverpool can go joint top with a win or outright with a big victory.

I'd love a blistering start like we did vs Arsenal 3 seasons ago!
