Sturridge will be playing for someone else next season. It's sad, it's not his fault. He's trying to figure out a new way of playing - in a team that doesn't play to his strengths - since the injuries and the resultant loss of pace. Feel bad for him.

Can is a really good player but he always struggles getting up to speed after a spell out and I worry he doesn't move the ball quickly enough, and that's why Wijnaldum is a better bet for us.

****houses them lot though. Fancy spending all that money and playing like that. 6 touches in our box ffs.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I like Sturridge and Can but I'm not convinced that either are suited to the way we want to play.

I would say the lack of fluidity was more down to Can coming in for Wijnaldum and lacking match fitness as well as the international break but each to their own.

We will never know for sure unless you could start the more mobile/match fit Grujic instead of Can in this game.

Lallanas absence was also felt, he's usually quite good and holding on to the ball and turning to move it forward. Firminos flicks lost possession too much in the first half although he too put in a real shift.

            good keeper is.

We weren't at our best I wonder if part of that was because of the travelling back from international duty a couple of injuries and players not fully fit. We were much better in the last 30 mins or so, I think that the front 3 of Coutinho, Firmino and Mane works better than anything else, I like Sturridge, but our play seems much less fluid when he is in the side unfortunately.
Front 4 of Coutinho, Firmino, Mane and Lalanna

Hopefully he's just a bit rusty but Can didn't show that same speed of play Wijnaldum offers supporting the front 4 - 1st half he was really sluggish but got better at the game went on.

That tackle on Firmino at the end was excellent, we would have been one nil up or at least had a penalty if it was in any way mistimed.

Looking at the chances for both teams I think we should have won 3-1
