Was it McManaman doing the match commentary? He kept saying how disappointed he was that Plymouth being a good passing team were not interested in playing at all. Despite our well documented defensive/goalie issues, them having a tank up front and us not having a single decent senior player on the pitch (Can and Origi, hmm, not quite there yet).

I couldn't help smiling and thinking that's the Klopp effect right there. We could have turned up with everyone's grannies on the pitch and lesser opposition would be afraid. Personally I loved it.

Hopefully world class players waiting for their next move in the summer can see this and are preparing themselves to work under the magician.

The reaction has been a bit OTT for me! We weren't great by any means but you'd think we had beaten the way a lot of our fan base has reacted.

The reaction that Plymouth have just held the mighty Liverpool is fair but again they have played against our under 23 side in the main for the majority of the game. Let's not act like they've just held off our first side for most of the game.

We have a semi final and a trip to Utd this week. Priorities.

Play the kids again at their place.

Agree, I think it's a valuable learning curve for the young players, hope we field a similar team in the replay. They get experience from drawing and losing as well.

I didn't watch the game and don't really care about it tbh. Bit annoying having to play again but stick the kids out again, if we win then great, if we don't then whatevs.

Getting back into the Champions League is still the priority for me. A good cup run is a bonus. Thankfully, we've got the EFL Cup to focus on. Getting to the final of that would show we can offer players a shot at silverware.

agree its a learning curve for the youngsters but it is also very apparent that their needs to be a bit more oomph in our play.
its very hard to play against ten defenders but playing the ball sideways trying to look for a gap and also invite them to press us and push out isnt going to make the openings we hoped for.

our wide front players [other than the occasional woody moment, oo-er] didnt make enough effort to take it out wide and cut it back.
on the odd occasion it did happen there seemed to be several defenders and none of our lads getting into the box to get on the end of it.

now its done then hopefully the post match analysis back at melwood will show the lads where they need to improve and improve for the rematch.
it will be very interesting just how many of the ones who started will get another game in the replay.

We're in the semi-final of a competition anyway. Under Klopp, we've reached two cup finals already (albeit lost them).

You also forget that our Champions League campaign was under Rodgers. We've no idea how Klopp will approach a UCL season.

It's all about showing progression, and a potential ability to win silverware. Right now, we're a better chance of the EFL Cup, than the FA Cup. Nevertheless, I'd be gutted if we were knocked out by Plymouth.

Also, I want to see what we can attract with Champions League football under Klopp.

It's a shame football is all about qualifying for the CL but i agree it should be about winning.

I didn't see the game either, but that wasn't because i didn't want to. Thought criticism of the players was harsh, especially considering the likes of TAA and Woodburn are at least a few years off being anywhere near ready. And Ojo was back from a pretty injury hit season. Far too early to be judgemental on them.

Stewart, again didn't see the game but at 23 i had already written him off. Good luck to him, but Championship is about his level. Newcastle would be a good move for him.

Well... its simple really.

If we get into the Champions League it will not only give us a lot more money to invest in the team, but also wider exposure and, hopefully attract a higher calibre of player.

Winning silverware us always nice, but winning the league and fa cups will ultimately never get us to where we really want to be... winning the league.

I do understand where you are coming from, but my head tells me that top four will be more productive in the long run. And the fact that so many teams field weakened sides in the cups show that (sad though it is) this is the mainstream train of thought among managers.

We have so many injuries and important game coming up that playing the kids was the only option. Maybe Klopp could have mixed it up with more experience but can't really risk it with the key injuries we already have.

Fair play to Plymouth they worked hard and defended well, deserved their replay and few quid. If we show a bit more intensity in the replay even with the same side IMO we should beat them. Was a shocking spectacle but I really wasn't arsed us not winning, well apart from the 50 quid acca that Liverpool destroyed!!

Yeah I think so mate, can't see us playing anywhere near as bad in the next game. Might be an interesting one with their home support. FA Cup can throw up some surprises.
