What is the convention for when referees should blow the whistle for these types of freekick, Mignolet clearly wasn't ready, the ref blows the whistle when Mignolet is standing next to the post - which you don't see very often, usually the ref waits until the defending team is ready.
That said there is a decent few seconds between the whistle and the freekick being taken so Mignolet should have sorted himself out.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
Apparently not, it was a hot water bottle to warm his muscles up, so hopefull he'll be on soon...

I honestly don't think Mig started wandering off until after the whistle was blown.
