Klopp said that our problem is about rhythm (or a lack of sometimes). Against teams that sit deep, we fall into a style which makes the team lose it (rhythm) somewhat. We managed to be really compact all game today, so that gave us a chance because we didn't do anything stupid all game. Are we winning?

I'm not sure I fully buy this theory. We ripped apart plenty of weaker teams early on in the season. There were aberrations of course but nothing like the last few months when we weren't playing with a full deck.Originally posted by dom9 View PostWe're muck against teams who put 11 men behind the ball.
Anyone else gets ripped apart.
If anything, this game should highlight this trend even more than the past months' worth of form.

Those teams in the early games hadn't figured out the formula.Originally posted by labourRed View PostI'm not sure I fully buy this theory. Once the code was cracked, everybody followed suit. And it worked. And I wager that it will still work when we play the rest of the **** teams.Oh I don't know.

Oh. Yeah. That's what my other post alluded to. Spurs didn't follow the type against us and that played into our hands.Originally posted by dom9 View PostThose teams in the early games hadn't figured out the formula.

But it still stands that the Mane loss coincided with a poor run. Also Lallana back in midfield can't be underestimated either.
I'll wait and see what theory is right. I'm not sure myself.

There were spells where Mane was away, Coutinho, Lallana, Matip, Henderson were injured, Firmnho losing form.. Etc etc etc. Ended up being bad times.Originally posted by labourRed View PostOh. Yeah. We found the perfect formula for a little while. But then the likes of those were out combined with teams figuring us out, then it was a bollocks.Oh I don't know.

Yeah. Teams decided Milner and Clyne were grand to give freedom to and we could barely muster a shot on or off target.Originally posted by dom9 View PostThere were spells where Mane was away, Coutinho, Lallana, Matip, Henderson were injured, Firmnho losing form.. Happy with result and performance. Effort was superb.
But spurs played into our hands, they didn't sit back and gave us space. If every team did this, the league is ours.
I'm not convinced we can play like that against a team that sits deep. Mane would have had no space to run into. I still think we are going to struggle to create much. Second half we did enough to be comfortable but we hardly created anything.
Play with pace we look menacing, slow it down and we are average. How do you play fast when your opponents sit deep? I don't think we have the answer.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde
