Yeah, i don't think Sturridge is ever disciplined enough to play through the centre really anyway, he's a bit old school in wanting to come deep (OK) or drift into wide areas. Coupled with not being a great presser of the ball he was never an ideal match for Klopp's game. All that said though, he can be an excellent option off the bench (when fit). Origi is another drifter tbf.

sturridge off solanke would be the best option. let big dom go toe to toe, head to head with the big thick lumps and let danny cruise in to pick up the 2nd ball.

I don't think we should write Origi off so quickly.

This time last year he was coming off a pretty hot streak scoring against Dortmund home and away with other key goals in the Europa - Solanke hasn't even played a competitive game for us yet.. He has also proven his ability at times in the PL, he is just really streaky. Origi is young also and whilst Solanke has had a good pre season, that's all he has had so far.

It's too early to say Solanke is better than Origi, he has played better in preseason, but is untested at first team level. You can't read too much in preseason as alot can depend on the level of opposition, where they are in terms of fitness etc. While all players peak at different times. That said I don't think Origi has pushed on to where we hoped he'd be, he's had some good patches but we need him to be more consistent, but he's still young.

I feel much better about Solanke than Origi. At least he puts pressure on defenders and looks far more athletic, plus he knows where the goal is.

Too early to make any sort of judgement on Solanke IMO. Remember Andre Voronin looked like Van Basten pre season. Solanke has done well pre season and looks a real goalscoring threat. Hopefully starts to progress over the next few seasons.

Yeah Voronin won us the CL qualifier against Touluse single handedly with a cracking goal if I remember correctly not quite the same though, Solanke is what, only 19? If he trains hard and listens to Klopp he can be brilliant.
