Who knows, maybe we will still get them (though on this showing VVD is the absolute priority) we can only answer this at the end of the month.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostHe's identified two players who look ideal on paper, but where are the others? There just have to be more than the two we can't haveModifying post.

We can't, because we should have had players in weeks ago. Even if we got VVD now, we've already dropped 2 points and how long will it take him to get up to speed in the team? Getting you're transfer business done early is clearly the best approach, if VVD talks go tits up and you have to write a grovelling apology then move on to the next.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostWho knows, maybe we will still get them (though on this showing VVD is the absolute priority) we can only answer this at the end of the month.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

I can't be the only one citing underinvestment in the squad as an issue and I don't think I am.Originally posted by Gibbo View Post
Henry was absolutely wank for that last goal. If heads the ball out before the ball reaches Wij's elastic neck, and before Mignolets punches a ball that was going miles away back into his own goal we would have won the game.
Sack FSG.

I still don't think he's good enough but then I'm unsure about Robinson as well. Other than diving in during the second he was otherwise OK.

Exactly, all the same people were saying it made sense not to buy anyone in Jan (which very nearly cost us 4th) cos it was important to get new players in to give them a full preseason to bed in & get used to Klopp & his fitness demands. That hasn't happened. Again.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostWe can't, because we should have had players in weeks ago. I'm not sure I only saw the stats on the screen briefly but we were the side in the top 6 who conceded the most goals overall and the highest % from set pieces, which means that in terms of the number of goals we concede from set pieces is much higher than the sides around usOriginally posted by Kenneth View PostWhats a 'normal' % for comparison?
Spurs I believe were about 20% but they were also the best of the sides defensively so the also conceded fewer goals overall. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I agree, I think chances of these big moves happening probably fade as the window is about to close. I know transfer activity as a whole is higher at that time, but even without knowing the data I strongly suspect this isn't the case for the big deals these days.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostWe can't, because we should have had players in weeks ago. Believe me mate your not. Some of us have had enough of those ***** bags FSG. They're quick enough to wax lyrical about the next sponsorship deal and corporate seat sales and go on about how good a financial place the club is in but don't spend a penny of it on what matters. This is a football club first and foremost and the number one should be investment in the team.
I don't give a **** what sponsorship money or corporate money the club brings in if it's not been spent on the team. They're just full of **** and soundbites every transfer window. Bunch of hedge fund snakes.

We are limited by our location and our finances. It would take a lot of money to overcome the location issue (I don't mean by relocating anfield, rather paying players higher wages). We want to push on for success but in reality, 4th probably is success for a club of our size, standing and funding.Originally posted by Roboklopp View PostThey are a massive upgrade on G&H but don't have the means nor the will to take is back to where we want to be.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

I think there is quite clearly a will to spend from FSG we threw money at Keita ffs.
Arguably an equal problem is Klopp wanting one player position and one player only.
We still need probably 2 defenders a midfielder (maybe 2 if Coutinho leaves) and a bloody centre forward. But Jurgen seems to be happy. The times they are a changin'.
