We really don't mate, it's clearly a reject sport for people who know there is no point learning GAA, as Dublin are just going to win anyways. Nev obviously knew this growing up and thought to himself... I might aswell learn the wooden stick game and hit a poor mans tennis ball around a field

Ha - didn’t the Dubs win the first hurling All Ireland.....I played Gaelic to a decent level but hurling was too much for me......was never good enough. Being born in the 30th Dec always meant I was playing against people a year older!

And you wonder why we hate the Dubs
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Sorry about the ‘welcome’ - still a lot of bad sentiment years ago against English people especially in rural Ireland. There was a large English/foreign community (artist/hippy types ) in remote West Cork in the 80s.......it was the scene of an infamous murder that was never solved if Sophie Tuscan du Plantier.......a good audiobook series in audible about it called West Cork

As with hurling - it’s a real mans game

It really is. That whole stretch from Bantry to Glengariff is lovely. There is a little spot about half way between the two called Snave Pier where I used to go kayaking and the view on the water is simply breath taking close to sunset as the sea looks like it is on fire.

And go further up the coast and you get gems like Clonakility and the wonderful town of Kinsale, especially if food is your thing. To be fair the Cork coastline from Kinsale right down as far as Glengariff is all a win. Some of the East Cork coastline areas are not half bad either although they do pale in comparison to West Cork.

For me Cork is the one county in Ireland that pretty much has something for everyone. Cracking city with a great range of amenities but also an amazing countryside that is rivalled maybe only by parts of Kerry and Wicklow in terms of large swaths of natural beauty.

Don't forget the colour associated with Cork either. There is a reason Cork has Red and Dublin has blue. Easier to spot bitters when you make all of them wear blue :P
