Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I find the phrase 'I'm not asking for crazy stuff' quite interesting. Not 'Crazy money', or 'unreasonable wages'... but 'Crazy Stuff'.

It's not purely money - it's a commitment to reinforce the squad, a release clause, a longer deal or something similar in addition to the improved terms IMO.

I saw an article a while back where it was claimed he wanted us to improve the team, bring in a couple more top quality players, no idea if it's true or not

Jurgen Klopp confident Mohamed Salah will sign new Liverpool deal: 'I know that Mo wants to stay'

The Egyptian forward has 18 months left on his contract at Anfield. Salah told GQ that he was not “asking for crazy stuff” during ongoing contract negotiations.

However, there has been no public progression on his deal in recent months and Klopp was asked about the situation on Wednesday.

He said: "There's nothing in it that's unexpected. I know that Mo wants to stay. We want Mo to stay. That's where we are. It takes time.

"I think it is in a good place. I'm very positive about it."

Salah has scored 148 goals for the club in 229 appearances since joining in 2017, helping Liverpool to their first Champions League trophy since 2005 and first league title since 1990.

He is currently representing Egypt in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). They lost 1-0 against Nigeria on Tuesday in their opening game.

Why was Klopp repeatedly asked about Salah on Wednesday?
Because earlier this week British GQ published an interview with the Egypt international in which he discussed his current contract.

Salah said: “I want to stay, but it’s not in my hands. It’s in their hands. They know what I want. I’m not asking for crazy stuff.

“The thing is when you ask for something and they show you they can give you something. Because they appreciate what you did for the club. I’ve been here for my fifth year now. I know the club very well. I love the fans. The fans love me.

“But with the administration, they have (been) told the situation. It’s in their hands.”

What are the terms of his current deal?
Salah has entered the final 18 months of his contract.

He is currently on an incentivised deal worth about £200,000 a week. His next contract will likely be one of the most lucrative in Liverpool’s history.

Why do Liverpool want to come to an agreement?

Salah is one of best footballers in the world and has enjoyed an incredible amount of success with Liverpool, winning the Premier League and Champions League.

In total he has played 229 competitive games for Liverpool, scoring 148 goals.

Only nine players have scored more goals for Liverpool in the 129-year history of the club.
