I thought Salah was immense last night and recently, to me, he seems to have evolved as a personality on the pitch. He is now as much of a creator of goals as a scorer of them. He played two absolutely sublime chipped crosses in behind the Villarreal defence, both of which deserved better outcomes - and the Meg assist for Mane was class. But on top of that, something that is rarely commented on is his strength and workfare. He doesn’t look a big lad, but he is so strong on the ball, he never gets knocked off it and he works tirelessly in the press (a prerequisite, but again not something often commented on).

I just about get the concept of expected goals, but with his assists being so much higher than expected does that mean his team mates are more clinical than expected or is it saying based on where he picked the ball up you wouldn't expect him to create a chance?
