Well the league in Portugal is the one he has worked in the most as a scout for us and others, plus he is fluent in the language so may be one that he has an eye on more than others for players ready to step up to a stronger league.

We have had other players do similar recently so if we are to hammer Salah for that, then we need to hammer the likes of VVD, TAA and others for going to join their national team squads and playing when recovering from an injury or carrying an injury.

What I do think needs to happen though is more financial responsibility to be put on the national team and player when it comes to things like this and that the organisation paying the player's wages (the club they work for) gets the final say as to whether a player carrying an injury at the very least needs to see a professional to evaluate the injury.

If international set ups want things to stay as they are and they continue to be able to have the final say on players joining up with their national teams (and a present players can revive a domestic ban for not turning up or if a club refuses to release them), then any time they enforce a call up against the wishes of a club they can take over the financial well being of that player for the duration the player is away from the club and are also responsible for any medical treatment needed after that call up.

Salah seems to be the consummate pro, he is barely ever injured. I doubt he would play if he felt there was any sort of risk.

Yeah there is very little going on in sport to make a story out of at the moment, so they are especially desperate.

A Liverpool (or another big club) story gets more clicks/views etc than a story about some guy at Burnley with 12 months left on his contract.

Apparently he now has an offer on the table from Barca for when his remaining year of his current contract expires. No **** Sherlock... would imagine every club will be scrambling for his signature and a hefty signing on fee. Sounds like lazy journalism.

Can't see us offloading him as well as Mane in the same summer window though.. asking for trouble there unless we have targets lined up and agreed in principle already. Even so, a risk changing two of the front three at the same time...
