We accepted all this when we decided not to sell.

I imagine both Mo and VVD are waiting to see how Slot pans out; is he going for a big rebuild or is he just going to tinker with the existing squad. At their age, they don't want to be sat around whilst a squad is built.
Plus, there's also the thought that Slot might see them as surplus, big wages that can be let go.
