I got anxious when I heard the commentator yesterday talking about this interview, about him being unhappy that he was overlooked and that he said he’s open to a move to spain...

Then ya read the interview and it’s like ffs, he didn’t say anything wrong... he’s been awesome for us, and is in the more senior stages of his career- Trent is still in the early stages of his career, so I can see why he would be a little disappointed to be overlooked- but he said it’s the managers decision and he accepts it... reads like they’re trying to make a story out of nothing..

About hinting for a leave- he just says that they’re great clubs and who knows what will happen in the future, he also says clearly, that he’s focused on playing for us, and wants to break all our records. I don’t go into my annual reviews telling them that I plan on staying at my company til I retire- it wouldn’t be good business for me, and it wouldn’t be good for him with any future contract talks if he’s coming out saying “ohhh god, I don’t want to ever leave”

In the end of the day, why would he want to leave? He’s winning leagues, champions leagues and golden boots here... also before coming to LFC he was a good player, but nothing special.. he was already at a stage of his career where players who are gonna make it, generally already have. Then he comes to LFC and within a season goes from being decent to being world class... a contender for ballon dor, front of the magazines, there’s even a ****in mural of the guy in Times Square!! We’ve seen more than a few high profile players go to Real Madrid/Barcelona and become B-listers... I reckon he would want his head examined if he pushed for a move. He’s been very good for Liverpool, but also Liverpool has been very good for him...

Bascombe says it prompted speculation that it was punishment, which it did. But he doesn’t actually state that was the case himself.

If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Fair enough if it makes you happier.

On the captaincy thing, I think that defenders and midfielders in general make better captains, you want your forwards to be selfish and concentrate on their own game. It's a cliché but the defenders or midfielders see more and are more involved in the game, but I think there is merit to it. I think that Fabinho could also have reason to feel a bit disappointed, but no offense to Salah or Fabinho but it probably meant more to Trent as a local boy, so maybe there was a bit of sentiment in it too.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Well no, there’s a distinct difference between the 2 things

There’s one line alluding to the speculation, but Bascombe doesn’t report it as fact and he also reports what Hughes said about it being a planned rest too. So he’s not actually saying the opposite at all.

After seeing your post, I was expecting a little bit more of a bombshell from Bascombe. That’s all.

True, I forgot Fabinho played that game too..

I think it made sense to give it to Trent too, given that it’s likely he’ll one day be the club captain... good to give him a sense of leadership now, and let him grow into the role...

Liverpool go top of the league this week and are in good form, and suddenly there are "stories" in the media about how a top player wants out.

Got to love when a band cranks out the greatest hits year after year.

Looking forward to when we make a final this year or are ahead in the run in for the title so I can hear all the hits again.
