You could also argue that in Jota, we have already prepared for life after the current top 3 stop being the top 3.

If age wasn't a factor, like Rich I'd want to stick with Salah. Wouldn't see the point in rolling the dice and seeing if we can improve on Salah's utter greatness and incredible numbers. But I think I'm with you. City's succession planning has been dismal and is partly why they're struggling a bit now. We need to avoid the same mistakes and with Mbappe having only just turned 22 yesterday, him and Jota would already have more or less sealed the future.Originally posted by Pepe79 View PostI’d hate to see Salah go, but the fact is the front 3 will all be 29 by the end of this season. Replacing them is likely to be funded by selling at least one or 2 of them at the right time. I’d say Salah and Mane have at least a couple more years at something like their current level, but we can’t wait until they all need replacing at once.
I’d love to see them all see their remaining best years with us and for Mo to smash more records and trophies and firmly establish himself as possibly our greatest ever player.
But something like the above would be great business. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

True, but Jota was also supposed to be the long overdue quality in depth.Originally posted by dom9 View PostYou could also argue that in Jota, we have already prepared for life after the current top 3 stop being the top 3.
So even if he establishes himself as future first choice, we should still look to replace the old guard front 3 in kind, in terms of quality..

Much as I like the idea of Mbappe tearing it up for us, if we were going to go really big on an attacking player I cannot help but think that Haaland might be more gettable and maybe a better fit into our team although who gets the chop would be a headache.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Mbappe isn’t a player I’d see us getting - even if we can get him I just don’t see the baggage that goes with him being part of our set up. Sancho is surely the one that makes the most sense all roundOriginally posted by poorscousertommy View PostIf Mo goes we will not be getting Mbappe.
I think Sancho would be a more liable option as he plays the same position.

cannot see Mbappe with us, nor Haaland. At some stage of or if not all of that front three will go, as for the replacements well we'll be hard pushed finding a better trio but you would trust Klopp to come close. I'm still not sure on Sancho to be honest, bit too much hype around him too for me. No doubts he has huge talent but still a long way to go imo, struggled a bit this season. One to watch out for who just signed for Leipzig is Szoboszlai, looks a real talent.

I find the Salah interview thing a bit odd, feels an strange time to rock the boat, too early in the season to be pushing for a summer move.
He shouldn't have been on the pitch vs midtjylland, nevermind captain.
I wonder if he put himself forward to play expecting to be the senior player thus captain. Weird to be upset about not being captain in a dead rubber game against a random Danish team, missing out to a local lad who came through the ranks.
With VVD crocked, Milner being injured/edged out the side, Gini half out the door. He fancies himself to be part of the 'leadership group' and this is his way of getting the attention of Klopp/the rest of the team.
They've given him the platform to win all these trophies, all the goals and glory but he wants to be the one to be holding the pot come the end.Last edited by Liverpool; 21-12-20, 03:03 PM.

TBH......I recall thinking to myself that Salah must feel he was in with a shout as an on and off captain purely down to his seniority and the availability on a game by game basis of the more obvious candidates, but I'm a bit surprised it was highlighted in an interview of late.
I dont think anyone will be surprised when Trent inherits the armband down the line, but even he got a light slap from Klopp recently on a substitution, so is there a chance Klopp said something to Mo if the captain question came about ? I dunno TBH.
Odd timing for it to pop up alright."I will make the boys feel your support"
