Either way it was definitely about Mo as he has nothing else to do

Dunno if this has been said already on this thread as not arsed scrolling back up on this but you know FSG, don't sign anybody but announce the deal of the window with Salah signing a new contract. Methinks it's done & dusted as LFC (FSG) are awaiting the right moment to announce it to quell the discontent!Nope, don't need anger management, you just need to stop pissing me off!

There is not a chance in hell that it is already signed so sorry but anyone who thinks that is deluding themselves. This is a live negotiation. I also think the twitter messages mentioned above are a not-very-subtle ploy to put pressure on the club to hurry things up.Originally posted by Angryred View PostDunno if this has been said already on this thread as not arsed scrolling back up on this but you know FSG, don't sign anybody but announce the deal of the window with Salah signing a new contract. I am not in the "pay him whatever he wants" camp. I know it will be hugely expensive to replace him and the replacement will not be as good as Mo is today, but nevertheless we can't pay him what we can't afford.
I also think we need to take more care in the future NOT to be in a position where we are having to negotiate contracts with players who are 30; the stakes are just so high as the player looks for one more great contract and we fret about how many more years we will get out of him.

Reality bites at this point. We can argue all day long about whether in the current market, with current top players, Salah is worth the £400k a week. He might well be when you consider DeGea is on what £350k, Pogba even more... BUT, the reality is we can only afford to pay what the club can afford. We aren't petro dollars or quadrillionaires or whatever the **** Newcastle are now... we have to pay salaries within our means and commensurate with what other players in the squad will feel is fair. If Salah gets his £400k a week, I have no doubts other agents will be gunning for massive salary rises for their players too... it sets a dangerous precedent when we have finite resources.
I get why Mo (and more so, his agent) wants a massively lucrative deal - he's one of the top three players on the planet right now and worth every penny. Reality is, we don't have deep enough pockets to pay him that. And even if we did, the return on that investment would diminish rapidly in the next couple of seasons due to his age.
It's a Catch 22 situation and likely we'll have a few more of them with Mane, Bobby, Ox, Milner and the like with their contracts/age dilemma.
We need to start investing in back-up/replacements for the front three... another Diogo type, we missed the boat with Bowen, I can't see FSG investing in Bellingham unless we sell one or more of the front three... it's tough for Jurgen to keep getting a tune from an ageing squad with high intensity pressing.
Not sure what the answer is... but whatever concludes... it's not going to please everyone.

True, but for a short while we were under the impression that our forward line was going to be Torres AND Suarez, not Suarez and a player who was not even fit when we signed him.Originally posted by frank the tank View PostWe signed Suarez at the same time too.......he seemed to get on ok!!!
