This current team’s swansong is this year, then it’s going to be a bit of rebuilding. We’ve got to win the whole lot and it’s going to be their legacy, including Mo’s.

I’m happy with that, can’t be held to ransom by players asking for more money when they’re earning loads already, no matter how good they are. Look at what happened to Messi.

Who knows but you could use all the same facts and argue a positive outcome.

Neither side is going to roll over. If we finally get to an acceptable offer we can’t just go all in after the first rejected offer.

The art of negotiation means this will always be protracted. Personally - I’m not sure either way, but the headlines are space fillers for the international break. It will get negotiated at the end of the season - too much of a distraction (given how things stand) right now.

Look at last summer. Virgil, Alisson, Fabinho, Trent, Robertson. All big contracts, all done quickly and smoothly.

and all could have earned bigger money elsewhere, Therein lies the issue, If it's just they money your after your at the wrong club.

Problem with that is the form tails off as subconsciously they're somewhere else. Not wanting to get injured etc.

I am absolutely comfortable with the club not breaking the wage structure and Salah leaving, either in the summer or in 18 months on a free. Though I think I’d probably prefer to get a fee this summer.

I don’t really enjoy it when a circus pops up around a player - Torres, Suarez, Sterling, Coutinho, Owen etc. It always acts as a stark reminder that the thing I spend so much of my time worrying about is largely populated with bell ends who are obsessed with money.
