Maybe there is now a point where we finish the rebuild, Salah's time will come up sooner than later, with a change of manager it's probably the best timing. If Xabi comes in, why not try for Wirtz? There is only one player I'm praying to stay, and that's VVD.

Is it though? I get that the new man will want to make the team his own, but if one of the first things the new manager does is move on one of the best players and top goalscorer and one of the top assist providers for the last 7 years if the squad don't challenge for the title next year or have a bad season you open yourself up to alot of pressure. Klopp could have done it as he has the security of what he has achieved with us so far which gives him a level of protection that a new manager won't have. IMO it would be a massive call in particular for a new manager.

There is no way a new manager will willingly be looking to get rid of Salah. They'll be excited at the prospect of working with him.

If the matter is taken out of their hands, that's a different story and I'm sure they will be disappointed if that is the case.

Just look at the definisive work Salah puts in too ffs. Other players posting his numbers didn't do that in their 20's, never mind when they are 'past it'.

He's gonna finish the season with a bang anyway.

The only way I can see a new manager wanting Mo selling would be if there was no money to spend on new signings but I doubt that’ll be the case

I'm sure Michael Edwards and the new Sporting Director will have an opinion on this. It's interesting that the scuttlebutt surrounding his departure featured disagreements with Klopp about getting rid of the older players, with Klopp wanting to retain them. I can see how a large cheque from the Saudis would be very appealing.

If this forum had its way at the end of last season we would have got rid of Trent, VVD, Robertson, Gomez, Nunez, Salah. And at one stage last season people were talking about selling Jota for the right fee and Jones wasn’t good enough. Even Mac Alister wasn’t good enough after a few games and neither was Endo.

I completely disagree with your last line, a data lead approach means making decisions based on good information and not emotion. It doesn’t mean if you are over a certain age then we don’t want you. The world and it’s mother could see Hendo was regressing yet Klopp insisted on an extension and pay rise - that is emotion over logic.

VVD is still top class so you renew him but at a contract length that works for you. You also avoid players with injury history such as Thiago regardless of how good he is and you target players from foreign markets a bit earlier

You could go to the Jap Stamm moment at Man U, they got rid of a quality defender as the stats said he wasn't in the same ballpark - they were wrong on a stats level but ultimately proved right the season after when his performances fell away.

I'm sure in the stats they see there is a leveller on experience etc, be daft not too, andI'm sure the multiplier is so much different too baseball, but the underlying fact is this is a data driven concept - Conclusions will be derived from data and that is led by data. Nuances, how do they get drafted in. TBF here, this data is driven by rocket engineers, what the **** do I know lol
