Id be really surprised if we let Mo leave on a free now that Edwards is back.

No way he'd get the all time scorer, even if he were to get 10 more this season he would need 4 seasons at 30 goals, he has hit 30 goals for us 3 times already, but asking him to do it every year up to the age of 35 seems extremely unlikely, especially as you would expect his game time to reduce as he gets older to keep him fit.Originally posted by frank the tank View PostHe is ****in brilliant
I think we might just keep him for another season and then he goes on a free.. Like Bobby. Like Gini. Like Emre Can. And to be honest, Virgil could go the same way. We have got our money worth out of both of them.
Maybe we get a bumper offer this summer from either psg or Saudi. Or somewhere like Juventus. Or even Real Madrid. Just because they have Mbappe, maybe they'd fancy Salah too.
Id love if he did 10 years with us and went for the all time goal scorer for lfc. He is approx 130 goals shy of that so it would be a huge ask but what a ****in target to go for. Would be brilliant. And I think he is such a ****in machine and an intelligent ****er too that could adapt. He could become a #10 ffs and be so effective there tooThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Yip it is a huge ask alright. Hence I said that it would be a huge ask.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostNo way he'd get the all time scorer, even if he were to get 10 more this season he would need 4 seasons at 30 goals, he has hit 30 goals for us 3 times already, but asking him to do it every year up to the age of 35 seems extremely unlikely, especially as you would expect his game time to reduce as he gets older to keep him fit.
But who knows. It all depends on the evolution of the team and the player.

It is mostly down to him if he wants to stay or move on, he's 32 in the summer but he's hit 30 goals in his last 3 season, probably won't hit that many this because of the games he's missed but is on 20 at the moment. At the moment it's fair to say a fully fit Salah is capable of ~25-30 goals a season in all competitions in a top league in Europe, I think he is capable of that sort of level for another 3 years (barring any major injury) I think he would be mad to go to Saudi at this point. If he leaves us (which I hope he doesn't) I think another top european club would be his destination. His fitness levels look such that he could probably have 2-3 years in Saudi after that if he wanted.
I would be wanting him to sign a new contract. The fly in the ointment is new manager coming, and wanting to bring a few of his own signings in and us having to sell someone to fund it, or Mo not liking the role the new manager wants him to play. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I don't think we will bring a manager in who wants to sign loads of players to be honestOriginally posted by Exiled_red View PostIt is mostly down to him if he wants to stay or move on, he's 32 in the summer but he's hit 30 goals in his last 3 season, probably won't hit that many this because of the games he's missed but is on 20 at the moment. We will surely bring someone in who wants to develop the team with the likes of Quansah, Bradley, Bajcetic, Jones, Elliott, Clark and a few others all going on to be worldies.
Then consider the ages of Gakpo, Szoboszlai, MacAllister, Gravenberch, Nunez as well and we are cooking on gas.

It all depends on whether a new manager believes the existing squad can perform or at least adapt to all the necessary roles to elite level for their system to work.Originally posted by frank the tank View PostI don't think we will bring a manager in who wants to sign loads of players to be honest

I agree with that I really like the squad we currently have, I would say we only need a 4th/5th choice CB (as Matip will leave and given Konate and Gomez' injury records I think not having someone else is too much of a risk). The other is a 3rd (or maybe 2nd choice keeper depending on what Kelleher wants to do).Originally posted by frank the tank View PostI don't think we will bring a manager in who wants to sign loads of players to be honest

Then it would be replace any of the players who might want to leave (hopefully no-one).
The big question for me is how we develop the youngsters appropriately, anyone who stays will need game time, which assuming we are in the CL next season will likely be limited to domestic cups unless we get another injury crisis, so it probably makes sense to loan at least some of them out, it will be interesting to see who out of the players on loan comes back and is involved next season (Carvalho, Morton, van den Berg).
Those are my views but we are bringing in a whole new football management side (Edwards, new director of football, and new manager) they might have different views...The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
