Sorry but 11 points and a trip to the Etihad to come is not a big enough cushion to lose those three in Jan. IMO.

Can the truth not lie somewhere inbetween? Yes, it was a very calculated move by Mo, but maybe he does feel let down by the club, maybe his motivation is as much to do with securing his legacy, as it is financial. Maybe the club have just handled this really poorly, as Virg made similar comments iirc?
With the information currently available, I'm not sure it's fair to strongly blame any side at this stage.
And if I'm completely wrong and Mo is being a greedy prick, I couldn't care less if it works.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

You don't know he's worth it because you have no idea what it is. If his contract wipes out our whole transfer budget for the summer would you be fine with it? We literally have no idea. But trying to shame the club with the fans in public, while the club are unable to respond, is a dick move.Originally posted by Norbs View PostI'm quite surprised at the change in sentiment on here. Faith in our owner's approach over securing a world class player for a little longer. FWIW, I think he's quite conniving, hidden behind a smile, but I also thin he's worth it.Last edited by Kenneth; 25-11-24, 10:32 PM.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

It looks like Carra gave him a slaughtering on MNF as well. I’m pleasantly surprised.
Carragher must think everyone has very short memories when it comes to players finding "ways" to get bumper new contracts.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

World record fee for the world's best goalkeeper, world record fee for the world's best defender, we spend when need to, and we'll spend to replace Salah, whether this summer, or in two years time. The way many are reacting, you'd think we may as well disband when he does leave as there is no future without him.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

Strange comments.
Obviously there have been talks and his side will know what the terms on offer are.
He could be technically correct that no official offer has been made but it won’t be a binary decision to keep him or let him leave, I’d imagine it would be linked to the cost of staying and he will know what the club are saying they would go to right now.
If he wants more then he will leave as he should but odd to make the comments as he has.Y.N.W.A!!!!!!

One party wants to get paid for the past, another wants to pay for the future. I'm surprised the club don't have a standard approach for renewing contracts at a certain age and make it obvious to players. 2 + 1 years for him and VVD seems fair, but at this stage I think both contracts should be a little more focused on performance levels rather than presence. Perhaps that is an issue. Perhaps we're seeking a wage reduction because he's no longer a mop-top.Really?

Mo looked as if he was droppong off the past couple if seasons. Post January he was looking pretty awful.
I imagine we were taking a wait and see approach. Nobody expected his form in terms of goals and assists would be this good.
That said, his all round play can be pretty dire at times, and he can totally drift out of games. This is not peak Salah despite the stats (which some might say are all that matters).
The question is, how much is that worth?
If we win the league the next three years then it will be money well spent whatever the price. But are we predicting he will maintain this form for the next three and a half years, or will he drop off after christmas? Our team may have a statistical model in front if them that shows there is better value elsewhere.
The other side is obviously his agent. The agent does what us best for the agent, the higher the wage the more he gets,so on Mo's last contract he will screw us for every penny.
Id love Mo to sign, but I have trust in the club to get the best possible deal. Same with VVD, but I think he has a longer life and Id prioritise him signing tbh.
I doubt Trent wants to stay at this point, so im not expecting any success there
Id just add that it heartwarming that Mo actually wants to stay. 300k buys a fair bit of loyalty, but at the same time, he could have tried to engineer a move at any time and he didnt. That means a lot to me.Last edited by Charly; 26-11-24, 12:53 AM.In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

I'm not sure what the big deal is. It should all be about winning the league this season. If he goes and we finish 6th next year, who ****ing cares. We will have won the league this season. No one can take that off us. I'm bored of looking ahead. It's right here now. Mo should not be ****ing about speaking to journos, especially a week before city. Focus should be on 3 points.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde
