he will be relived by this news I reckon.

I think the thing with Salah is that so much of our threat rests on hîm. Subconsciously you know that he is most likely to create so when he has a bad touch, or is out of the game then it feels worse than when it happens to a forward who contributes less.

He mentioned in interview recently that he years ago chatted with Wenger and asked Jon what an elite mentality was. Wenger told him élite was the player who whilst having a quiet match remained alert enough to hand changing moments. That’s Salah to a tee. You can’t take your eye of bin for one moment in a match or he will kill you.

Im really not. He acts like he's bigger than the club ffs though when he does this.

It is affecting the fans btw. We're talking about it aren't we? The sole purpose of him doing it is to create the discourse in the media and therefore the fanbase.

He usually doesn't talk to the press too btw...make of that what you will.

It's anti owner sentiment that he's stirring up for his financial ends.

It's very hard to make a case about him off the field creating discourse in the media about his contract, when he is absolutely smashing it on the field and that in itself is creating discourse in the media about his contract.

I thought he was on the wane last season and was thinking maybe it's time I was so so wrong, look at those figures and how sharp he looks, the guy is a generational talent.

I think that any anti-ownership stuff is a side effect of his discussions. He clearly wants to stay at the club, but also wants to be valued as he feels is appropriate by the club/owners. Obviously he has the fans on his side in pushing for a resolution he is going to use the whatever pressure he can to get the deal he wants.

Naturally there is a power imbalance here he is a top player the fans are on his side and quite frankly the average fan doesn't give a **** how much he is paid, they just care about whether he will be playing for us next season. On the owners side obviously they have to make sure the numbers are right but if he leaves they will get **** from the fans, maybe in that situation they will try to say his demands are unreasonable and paint him as the bad guy butthey can't do that while he is at the club and certainly not in the middle of negotiations. It's not a fair situation but it is what it is.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Il feeling good about it all to be honest. From both sides.

He’s playing as well as ever. It’s like season 1 Salah. Best to sit back and enjoy one of the best we’ve ever seen. He was like a force of nature second half last night. It was incredible to watch.

Yep, he's some player that's for sure. Just goes to show what a decent rest over t he summer and full pre-season can do him. I do hope he stays.

It's OK saying just pay him what he wants, but if he's after 500k then what...
It's not going to happen as we won't match what he's being offered from Saudi etc.

It's also a problem that we seem a bit one dimensional in our attacks.
Send it to salah, attack down the right. Trent did the odd overlap that then allowed salah to come into the middle, which was nice!

Diaz and nunez have dried up, the odd goal from gakpo, but very little else.

We are lucky as a support base as we always seem to be not far away from getting someone we think is as good as it gets.

In more recent times, we had Suarez that was the never going to get better than guy, then we got Salah.

We will have another off the charts attacking player in our near future just as we will get off the charts level players in other positions too.

Think right now we are more spoiled than in recent decades what with having had the likes of Alisson, VVD, Robertson, TAA and Salah all in the first team when at their peaks coupled with guys like Mane, Fabinho etc all being there at the same time.

Think we would have to go back to the 1980s to when we last had a first team so stacked with genuine top level talent.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.
