None of this is rocket science though, his body is ageing. By scoring and (not OR) assisting nearly every game I'd favour that over terrorising considering his goal shy compadres.

If scoring 24 goals and 15 assists in 26 games along with the mentioned all time PL record breaking stats isn’t terrorising then I don’t know what is. He has only once scored more goals in the league than this, only this time there are also all of the assists.

The difference is that the memory also recalls peak Firmino and Mane, who were part of that terror. Now Salah, more or less, has to do it on his own. If anything he is better and more productive than ever.

If including time away from LFC then guys like Alonso would enter the discussion as he was quality before and after his time with us.


Souness is another guy that would come pretty close to being top notch for every season he was with us but I did not include him (despite him being the very best midfielder I have ever seen play for us) as did not have a full seven or eight seasons with us. Probably unfair to leave him out though as he was with us for 6.5 seasons and was a rock for that duration.



Some six months of so by Bob Paisley to have signed the Jock triumvirate of Souness, Hansen and Dalglish. Getting just one of them could have been described as catching lightning in a bottle, but signing three players of that quality so close together is nuts.
