Certainly could look at it that for sure. You could also say that not selling him when we had the chance and getting in a couple of players and maybe a better squad balance could have been the difference between winning back to back titles vs our season going up in smoke and complete and utter turmoil at the club. Who knows and irrelevant now I suppose.

Anyways, he we are and not only do we have a player hugely under performing, we also have a player that in a moment of crisis throughout the team, he made it all about him. Talk about tainting your legacy. For me, hard to see beyond that at the moment.

Am wondering what a Paisley, Shankly or even a Ferguson would do here. I think they'd leave him at home, perhaps even have him training on his own until his attitude improved. It's not the fact that he's angry, but more the sense of entitlement imo.

I wonder if he could perhaps come out with an apology - like he's reflected and realised he's wrong. Would it change your mind on him? He'd have to explicitly admit he has to earn his position, for me.

The PR would always be bad as well, no matter how he framed it. The journos want access to Liverpool next season and are less likely to worry about getting access to Mo..

I was going to paste the best excerpts from that Joyce article for further attention, but I would have ended up pasting 95% of it. Mr Joyce hits a multitude of nails squarely on the head. I haven't seen a cogent rebuttal of any of his many salient points that does not resort to emotional gibberish and/or tin foil hat conspiracy theories.

“Consider that in light of Salah’s latest brattish behaviour and, really, who is the problem here?”

“He wanted to stay all along and was prepared to indulge in some emotional blackmail along the way.”

“Towards the end of last season, Salah claimed to have an agreement with Slot that he did not need to defend as long as he scored or created goals. That is not how the Dutchman viewed it when asked recently but, in any case, Salah has stopped scoring. So just who has broken promises?”

What Joyce is saying is probably true but the tone is derogatory and it seems like there is an agenda at play here.
Thanks for that. This article is different from the last tweeted article.

From the twitter itk folk it would appear they want to stick with Slot as he's bought into the structure. That indicates Salah will be sold in January.

It will be interesting what we get for him I'm pitching him at £50m but it'll need more than one buyer at that level

Only likely to be Saudi and isn't that just one bid as they buy and decide where he goes? Or does it not work like that anymore>?

If he doesnt then he should be frozen out. It just doesn't look well having a player that dictates matters in this manner

I'd be surprised if PSG weren't a bit interested

I wouldn't be surprised if he went on a free transfer.....or something small like 10m.

The rhetoric that we only signed him on a new contract to sell him makes no sense in my view. We wouldn't break our wage structure for that. I remember debates around his new deal last year and some folks were saying that he wouldn't last 2 seasons and that his legs would go. The were right. However, I said something along the lines of "well if his legs do go, then lfc could just say "listen Mo, you're not going to play" and he'd probably want to leave then himself. That has proved correct too imo. I thought that he would be brilliant this season again and would then dwindle maybe next year.....or the year after. The fact that we have changed the approach of the team - with probably a #9 as a focal point - has probably caused Mo to say "**** this".

In my opinion, the way to transition him out was to play him as a forward instead of a winger. In a 442 or some sort (maybe diamond formation). That would have allowed him to be a lazy cunt defensively without compromising the right hand side. Also, it would have enabled us to play Ekitike and Isak together too without changing formation.

The big pity for Slot here is that Isak has been a bag of ****in **** since he signed for us. And for the people who say "he's had no pre-season", the guy signed for us over 10 weeks ago so that 4 week pre season can't be an excuse now.

I'd be shocked. Once the Mbappe roadshow ended, they became a serious football team and won the European cup. If they wanted the Mo-show then they'd be ****in crazy. If they are stupid enough to want to pay for Salah, we should ask them if they want to take Konate as well.

If PSG went for him, I wouldn't be surprised if Enrique walked

Paisley would have got rid last year. What was his quote, something like "better to lose a player too soon than too late" something like that?

Not sure if I've heard the quote, but yes that sounds like Paisley alright. And it's true he would have been shot of him long before now.

I think that's still the situation, yes. The league buys him.

Ifwe start freezing him out, his value goes down and we lose out anyway.
