Do not find it unusual that he is a target for ire though. Said it many times that there is a vein of negativity and entitlement running through our support, in my opinion of course, that has really come out in a big way this season and genuine criticisms about things have been blown up and then turned into ciriticism, again imo, for the sake of criticism often before a ball has been kicked in the game the criticism is aimed at that day.
Criticism of his football performances this season are fair game in my eyes as is criticism of his petulant outburst this season, but prior to that he always backed up anything he said (directly or through his agent) with club legend level goal and assist returns for eight seasons in a row.
Best right sided player I have seen play for us in my lifetime, he is also up there in any conversation about who was our best attacking player of all time and a bone fide great for LFC. Think his legacy is safe as in 10, 20, 30 years time people will still be talking about him the same way many of us of a certain vintage are still talking about names like Souness, Barnes, Dalglish and Mike Marsh. Go to fans 10 or so years older and Clemence, Smith, Hughes, Keegan etc in the conversation. Salah sits easily alongside any name we could throw out there.
Really?

Decades?Originally posted by Buzzo View PostKlopp did the same. So did Hendo.
Trent didn’t and got even more ****e for it.
It’s a no win scenario if you are a football player because fans are so unforgiving.
How can it take the shine off a decades worth of elite performance which delivered trophies we’d dreamed off for most of our adult lives. Ridiculous.
He's not an actual Pharaoh mate
Trent was a scheming rat and deserves everything he's getting. He lied to fans and continually played the 'local lad' card and absolutely shafted us out of a big fee.
Don't remember Hendo announcing an 'Im leaving' leaving procession at all? He just said he was going when the club agreed a fee with the Saudi club and sold him??
Klopp was different IMO - That all reeked of a 'last dance' motivation tool type thing. It wasn't about him.
Look, you think the sun shines out of Mo's arse. I don't. Great player, one of our best ever, of that there is no doubt, but he can be a total dick when he doesn't get his way. And I see straight through his little tantrums/media games.
PS: We win nothing without Mane, Firmino, Hendo etc running their guts out game after game btw.

No I agree with that, it’s the collective that I love, however Salah was a huge part of that and it can’t be diminished. But equally we achieve nothing and particularly last season, without his goals and assists. What I disagree with is the disproportionate amount of hate that he gets he’s not my ‘favourite player’ but I acknowledge his greatness and I’ve loved having him as part of the team.
Poor punctuation on ‘decades’
I do disagree with the online Salah supporters that follow Mo more than Liverpool. That rager of people say they rate Dalglish higher than Mo. But that’s them not him. But that said he has been a phenomenon over his contract here and it’s strange that people are so keen to diminish his achievements because he wanted a salary that acknowledged his standing. And some supporters have been winding up the Salah hate for years.
I’m also not all that bothered by his tantrum this year, it came from frustration and the same core that has driven him from Egypt to the top of the game. He has been loyal to the club, he seems a decent and uncontroversial man, he has drive to succeed that has taken us all a long way and that single mindedness at times comes across poorly. But we are none of us perfect.
It’s time for him to go. And I think the timing and end is playing out about right.Last edited by Buzzo; 01-04-26, 09:29 AM.Modifying post.

As an aside and thinking of the collective, I saw an interview with Ox and thought he was talking about Salah’s work ethic he said that one thing Klopp did well was bring together a group of players who had something to prove.
I think we saw that on those crazy unbeaten runs. Players with a hunger unlike anything I’ve seen before managed by a guy who knew how to motivate them.Modifying post.

Yes, have to agree you on all that...It was like everything came together to fit like a glove & could have, should have achieved more if it wasn't blatant cheating from Real Madrid & Man City.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostAs an aside and thinking of the collective, I saw an interview with Ox and thought he was talking about Salah’s work ethic he said that one thing Klopp did well was bring together a group of players who had something to prove.

We had a keeper have one of the worst games you've ever seen and then the other game came up against a keeper having one of the best games you've ever seen."When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah
