It's just one defeat. We had plenty of leaders when we beat Hoffenheim away (a team undefeated at home for over a year) when we in turn beat took them apart at home I didn't see anyone bemoaning lack of leadership and when we took Arsenal apart nobody was moaning.

It's first away defeat since Feb. Our first defeat against a top six team in, what, 2 years. We typically get results in big games, which suggests we do alright for leaders.

This is not specifically at you Havors, but there is a fair amount of over reaction on here (why am I surprised!!!).
We got the most points in the league from behind last season, doesn't really point to a group of players that fold when the going gets tough but it's an easy accusation to make after a bad result I suppose.

Until they scored I thought we were the better side, we got into numerous dangerous positions and either our final ball let us down or our shooting was ****

The sending off killed the game off for us

Saying that though... I am struggling to see any leaders in our team at all.

Gerrard could have lead Liverpool without saying a word, he lead by example, he inspired the team by what he did with the ball and how he closed down/tackled/put his body on the line. His performance level asked questions of everyone else, can they keep up? When was the last time Henderson was a genuine MOM? Which players in our squad look at Henderson and feel under pressure to match his performance level? He's not a top class player which I think limits his ability to lead the team, with everyone fit I'd say whether he deserves a starting slot is debatable, and CM is not a position we are particularly blessed in.

I prefer a vocal, charismatic captain rather than the silent, I'm better than everyone else type. Carragher was better than Stevie in that role and I'd always pick someone who can cajole and arse kick over someone who just does their own thing well,.

Gerrard was great, but he wasn't a great captain and he wasn't a tactician or strategist as a player either.

I don't get you, no way does Gerrard fall into your second category.

Well actually it was not a case at all of he 'had' to go for the ball because he didn't have to.....the key point is he was only ever going for the ball and was solely focussed on that. Anyway...time to move on.

On a side note, glad Ederson is ok.

I think the bottom line is if you are going to raise your foot at pace the responsibility for avoiding endangering someone has to be on you. So I don't think it's unreasonable for it to be a sending off. However, I think the difficulty Mane would have had identifying it would be dangerous is a mitigating factor, it obviously ended up being dangerous but it perhaps was not nearly as reckless as some of the other recent incidents were. Which is why I think 3 games would be harsh.

The fact we're asking for a reduced punishment rather than a full rescindment should help.

Nah no ****in way will we get reduced ban. The FA will probably add another game on for asking the question. Otherwise it opens up an appeal on the length of every straight red. So although the fact that there was zero intent should mean a one game ban would be more appropriate, their kangaroo court won't be able to see that or use common sense

You know, Id go with this if every other fan thought the same way if it happened to the opposing team with a sending off. But they wont. No way you would give the same liberal attitude if it was the other way round.

Also, why didn't he just try and head it?
