Yeah - really annoying that we've dropped 6 points against Everton, WBA and Arsenal that we really should have won comfortably. Frustrating that we can be so wasteful in front of goal and then compounded by individual errors.

That's bollocks mate. You don't become one of the best attacking side in the world without a functioning midfield behind you. Change the whole midfield? Sit down and think.Originally posted by danperkins View Post
that top 4 have pulled out miracles this season. I was never a big fan of Can anyways but he's even a shadow of the player he was. Wini is a squad player, as is Hendo and Milner. Ox hasn't been pulling up trees but definitely deserves his chance to show what he can do.
I would love it if we replaced the entire midfield to be honest.
We need to know how not to give the opposition momentum during a game, especially away from home when the crowd is against you. We don't know how to manage games in times of crisis. Either we try not to get to that stage or know how to avert it when that happens.
This is a team thing, not just a segment or certain individuals. It may be possible to get better players because you can always improve but the point is if you get yourself into a situation (3-0 up away at Sevilla and 2-0 away at Arsenal), they must have been doing something right up to that point which doesn't fit with your narrative that our midfield is average at best. Are we winning?

If the midfield contribute to attack but none of them assist defence then perhaps we should look at the invisible work that Henderson does in that respect. We've hardly conceded recently when he's featured, he gets injured and pop. He's by far the most disciplined player in our midfield and those safe possession passes he makes would've steadied us tonight

This is getting a bit silly now.
Last time we genuinely battled for honours for more than a season we had Gerrard, Mascherano and Alonso in MF. Three players who would be wanted by any side in the world. Now we have Can who might get some games for Juve and the rest wouldn't get a game at another top six team. We need a totally different class of player in the middle of the pitch if we want to progress beyond top four contenders.Last edited by Kenneth; 23-12-17, 11:13 AM.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

I completely understand what Dan is saying Re: midfield. In our current system, we have the ‘Fab Four’ (although I still think that Ringo is an ordinary drummer without the other three
). Coutinho ideally sits in front of two ‘traditional’ midfielders. None of our current crop (of midfielders) appear good enough.
Another MASSIVE game

Yup, and a better keeper to boot.

Three goals in five minutes from three shots, aside from individual mistakes it seems like we lack composure. As soon as any team scores, panic sets in and we turn to ****.
We can buy a new defender and a new goalie, but unless we sort the midfield out we're gonna continue to have the same problems.Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon

Very harsh man...easy to blame individuals but correct in this caseOriginally posted by Rigadon View PostMistakes from Gomez and Mig cost us two goals. Our front players were also very wasteful (it could be argued that our front players cost us points against Arsenal, WBA and Everton - but Gomez and Mig will be the easy targets for this game).
It's too easy to blame individuals. Bigger picture, we seem to go to pieces when we concede. Lack of leadership, especially in the middle (CBs and midfield), is a problem.I love Sarah

Still pissed off with this game. Agree with what's been said about the midfield as we do need a better class of players there that can control and also protect the back four. Currently we have a defence and midfield that in my opinion is of bottom half league quality.
I'd seriously consider bringing back Mash from Barca in Jan to add a bit of Steele into midfield as there has been talk about him wanting out. Either way something needs to be done in January otherwise it's going to be another season of disappointment.
Go out in Jan and buy a new Keeper, defender and a central midfielder. However I get the feeling it will be The same old excuses about how there is no value in the January window and how we tried.
It's so frustrating that the club have learnt nothing over the years. If it had not had been for our woeful defence in 2014 we would have won the league and I've lost count of the amount of times it has cost us a trophy most notably the UEFA cup final. It's beyond a joke now.
The club needs to get its head out of its own backside.

All going swimmingly until Joe/Simon realised thisOriginally posted by Liverpool View PostCaps locks thats us ****ed
Another Gomez error in the middle like West Ham, cant be first choice CB doing that.
Klopps in game management is mad, late subs and we don't adjust regardless of the score, we play plan A for 90 minutes, if you go 2 up there needs to be another plan to kill the game, how many ****ing times are we going to blow a lead? It felt inevitable once the first went in as well, we fold like a house of cards every time. I make that 10 points dropped from winning positions in the league.
Still getting the equaliser keeps us fourth and a 3 point swing back in our favour against them. We had a great chance to make that fourth spot our own and blow the rest away 6 points from 4 games.
