We’re not going to challenge with Mig in goal. Forget about it. In front of him we have issues in defence and at holding midfield (we lack one) but first thing’s first please - a top notch keeper between the sticks quickly followed by a classy, dominant and great in the air centre half please. We are pretending to compete until we address these problems. It's easy to distract fat people. It's a piece of cake.

And we have been here a few times over the last 20 plus years; the key is what happens next. We think we will lose Couts and Can and we know we will gain Keita. All in all, that is backwards so the other people bought/developed need to turn that into net progress.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostStill cannot believe what happened last night. It is incredibly frustrating. We are very special as an attacking force, an equal if not better than Man City, but we are are barrel of turd in relation to defending. I'm getting very tired of the constant inability to be able to put our foot on the ball, and kill off a team at 2 or 3 goals up. That is hard to come to terms with... being so dominant in attack and still fearing that when we concede one we go to pieces.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostStill cannot believe what happened last night. Klopp needs to get his sh!t together and buy a fooking defence, keeper and and a commanding midfielder that can lead and keep a cool head. Ohh and while he's at it can he please relieve Henderson of the captaincy, the guy is a waste of space, offers nothing to the team, and has the captaincy skills of twigEl Kloppo !!

"How could I justify picking up my pay cheque if I stand here and say the tie is over? It would be just as stupid as saying we're going to walk all over them [in the second leg]. I can always supply silly answers to silly questions...... Yes, the tie is over, but we have to play them anyway."

There is a real possibility of just treading water. We're certain to lose Coutinho and reinvest about 70% of it, or whatever, we're used to knowing what happens when you sell your best players and it's not progressing.Originally posted by Paul12 View PostAnd we have been here a few times over the last 20 plus years; the key is what happens next. Even treading water is difficult in the PL these days. There are 3 teams who will massively outspend us every window and we are fighting arsenal and spurs for fourth unless we have a really good season every now and then, or one of the three have a mare. That's our level and we could easily finish 4th or 6th in a reasonable year. To challenge the 'bigger' (richer) three consistently is a huge step. And that assumes other clubs don't suddenly get massive injections of money like Everton have.Originally posted by labourRed View PostThere is a real possibility of just treading water. That is fair. We're about 4 players away from being a great side IMO that could compete at the top, that's almost half a team.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostEven treading water is difficult in the PL these days.
